I’ve always loved mice. But now that I have a MacBook Pro I love the gestures, specially zooming in with the trackpad. I haven’t watched yet but this is exactly the video I needed. I don’t know if I should chose between a mouse of trackpad. Ideally I’d have both but that’s an unnecessary luxury.

Hi! I have a few important questions about the trackpad and I'll really appreciate if you answer: 1. Does Magic Trackpad 2 respond as quick as the MacBook trackpad? I mean the input latency, i.e. the time between you move a finger and the cursor moves on the screen. The latency is noticable on Magic Trackpad 1 and it feels stiff comparing to a MacBook trackpad so I consider an upgrade. I'd be very thankful if you measure the latency. 2. Does Magic Trackpad 2 perform multitouch gestures (e.g. scrolling a webpage) as smooth as the MacBook trackpad? The 1st generation has issues with this too. To make the long story short, do you notice any difference or inconvenience while using Magic Trackpad 2 compared to the MacBook trackpad and Magic Trackpad 1?

Thanks to your live footage, I've measured the latency. It's about 50-60ms (it sucks). To compare: the MacBook Pro 2015 trackpad latency is about 32ms and Magic Trackpad 1 is about 50ms.

Personally I have the trackpad with my Macbook Pro as it allows me to have my arm in a different position when scrolling. It helps me keep my shoulders from shrugging while working. I don't feel a difference with regards to actual response, but the trackpad does feel smoother and more satisfying, if that's even possible. So primarily it's a comfort thing for me.

I know this is an older video now but I found one point kinda funny. You mentioned that Apple didn't even the trackpad but actually they were the first to introduce the trackpad with a PowerBook model in 1994. So it is fair to say that Apple invented the trackpad. :-)

I wont say anything whether is worth it or not for the price, but as for smoothness comparing to macbook touchpad, you do have to know that it is not 100% smooth as MacBooks touchpad. Maybe it’s related to trackpad being bluetooth, Hz technology or who knows. But i still think its much better than any mouse.

Ningweizhi Ge you will be able to use it with full gesture support with the 13.4 update which is gonna be released tomorrow i think. You can use it now with accessibility settings, but its not really full mouse support yet.
