3:03 The home app already does this. You can go to settings and it recognizes faces. It will also push notifications like a group of people rung the door bell, etc. you can also edit and provide more information on the people. It’s not great right now but I have no faith in this rumor. Much more likely that they would release some sort of home hub, HomePod with a screen or Apple intelligence powered Apple TV with shortcuts built in so you could combine the power of home kit automations with shortcuts and AI.

Home accessories like this would actually be the best smart home play they could make. We don't need a wall mounted iPad control panel or an iPad on a robotic arm, we need things like this. Easy to setup, easy to use, and reliable home accessories. This is the play to make.

Google have absolutely destroyed the Nest ecosystem, and it makes me sad. I have a bunch of Nest hardware from before and shortly after the Google acquisition, and all that Google has done so far is try to shoehorn things into the Google Home app and kill products (like Nest Secure...which I had). I'm done with Google smart home devices. Hopefully if Apple do this, they do it better than Google.

Apple makes great cameras, so it makes sense for them to make some, simple easy to connect, no monthly subscription would be great, or even smart lock with face ID, no more keys to carry around.

I hate to say it, but I'm pretty sure they will be a subscription I mean with Logic, pro, and Final Cut Pro a lot of people thought those apps wasn't going to a subscription, but now it does and the same thing Will happen to the Apple cameras if Apple actually comes out with it because now Apple is moving to a services type model business since hardware sales are down

Oh, God. The lack of Apple Home knowledge. Everything said has been available in Apple Home for years. “Firmware” is not required if you’re using Apple Home. The beauty of Apple Home is it is all local. As a matter of fact some products for example Logitech doorbell doesn’t even connect to Logitech’s app it’s all through Apple Home.

3rd parties offer “extra” features that Apple Home doesn’t offer so that would be the reason someone would download the 3rd party apps and keep firmware updated.

I’m against any of those camera doorbell doodads. I don’t feel like being a voluntary CCTV for the government. Yes, there is a precedent of the authorities getting their hands on the footage from Ring doorbell cameras, they have a blanket permission, if I’m informed well.

Your prediction regarding Apple Vision Pro that "it won't be released because there are no prospects" was wrong, but the "no prospects" part was correct. Be confident. Anyway, AI camera sounds interesting as far as data they collect are my neighbors' not me or my family's. "It's secure because all data is in Apple's server" thing is totally bullshit. Doing it offline is likely to be too expensive and meaningless because it's connected to the internet anyway and data have to be transferred to Apple's server to reach your smartphone. It's weird that smart device manufacturers these days totally forgot that LAN exist.
