The entitlement in that family, OH MY GOD. Kevin's the one who lied and manipulated his way into marriage and a house, yet they're more angry at JESS than Kevin, because Jess knew all that time. Even worse, Gladys had the nerve to demand an apology from JESS. "You should have told us!" Yeah, chances are if Jess did tell them earlier, Gladys and Sophie would have disbelieved her, and Chris' dumbass would have accused Jess of being jealous--AGAIN. Yeah, Jess owed them absolutely nothing.

Why is everyone in this story overlooking evil MIL says she bought the house for OP and MIL’s son. If the house was given to them, no one can just take it back. Since MIL decided to move them out, she never gave them that house. MIL bought a house and allowed the son and OP to live there for a year.

So Story writers this was ok, However you kinda lost the plot 1. She did offer Tea and cookies MIL declined- Perfect set up during the Argument. 2. Jess and her friend- shouldn't complain about checking cakes to Kevin but the argument ok, he was definitely in the wrong with his attitude. 3. Jess should've told Chris she saw him somewhere but not at the Hospital she is sure of that. Great opening she would have warned him. 4. Once she realized who he was, told Sophie especially with a Great opening "Pretend to still be in love with my brother" that was the perfect opening "So I guess you would be ok, with marrying someone pretending to be a Dr"? So much to do with this A. Let Sophie understand her family looks down on her. B. Sophie maybe spoiled but could've been an Ally ( your mistake was implying she did so much for Sophie, but never clarified in fact it made Jess seem bitter and truly Jealous of Sophie to us readers, when Sophie was the least antagonistic to Jess. It was really her ex husband and MIL that moved her out of the house) C. If Sophie was truly like her family, and was condescending she couldve just send everything to her the Day of the wedding) 5. Definitely came to let her ex husband and MIL find out the truth they traded her for a bum (Passport was horrible set up) 6. Chris should've not just blamed Kevin but his mother as well 7. Took one last dig at MIL that all this was because she was willing to renig on a gift for her Bum Son IL. Hopefully this Critique shows this story couldve been better.

And if the house is hers, I'd get out, and find a place where she's banned to come. Anyway, you don't take back gifts... and wedding gifts at that. Sadly, these stories almost always end up with a "strong independent woman" living alone the rest of her life. While in this fiction she's always happy, in reality she seldom is.

Chris you are spinless so of course she wants a divorce and these monster in laws are the ones that need to learn their place. Gladys and Chris have NO rights to be badmouthing Kevin they are far worse than him. It sounds like Sophie only married Kevin for the money. I always thought that two people getting married was because they loved each other and wanted to be together forever, not because one of them was making a lot of money. Marriage doesn't have the same meaning as it did 40 years ago.
