Have the company (after you ream them out until they're bloody!) Reisdue the check and rmsend it to the office like they should have from the beginning. Oh, and write better plot holes that a freight train can't barrel through comfortably! **SHEESH**

OP should call police, and Post Master about the mail and stealing the check. Also the company that sent the check tell them it was stolen. Also file a restraining order to keep her away from you. Tell HR department and have them fire her. They can find grounds to get rid of her. Especially since she stole and opened your mail, it makes her a felon.

Plus, if she has not so much as received the check, then it's the editorial's money, not hers; so they still owe her, and even if the mom ran off and disappeared with it, it'd be THEM losing money for being so careless.

This story is stupid and full of holes. Her mother, who abandoned her 15 years ago iopened her mail wich is a federal crime and she doesn't want her mother in her life or at her job. And she didn't report her for a federalna crime wich would imediatly make her not good for the job and she would be fired. End of story. They would get rid of her. But they kept on draging it.

Beating around the bush doesn't work. People like Marceline should learn not to procrastinate serious and personal matters, doesn't matter if they are your parents, family, siblings, relatives, friends, colleagues, or acquaintances. When you know that your family are criminals and you are living an honest and a respectable life, then you have to deal with such criminals with the help of the law enforcement.
