This is my first pie ever made. After I put it in the oven I was kinda scared because it was easy to make. I thought that it wouldn’t come out good since everyone would make the pie preparation such a big deal. It came out perfect and I don’t even like apple pies. The crust was perfect. I cooked the filling in a medium heat pan with butter for 10 min (covered with a lid) and the apples were perfectly cooked and the juice was thick. I also used green apples, they usually are kind of harder. Another tip; when you split the crust when you take it off from the fridge, I’d suggest not to cut the pieces equally but the bottom one a little bigger, you have to open it a little more than the top one and it would be better if the bottom is thicker. Personal opinion. Thank you so much!!

This is very similar to my mom's pie, which I've been making for 40 years. Secret: use a mix of apples (different varieties). Then you can cut sugar to 1/4 cup (granny smiths are very tart, so you probably do need so much sugar with just them). Skip nutmeg, unless you like it. Add a few small pats of butter on top after filling the crust (before adding top crust). Don't listen to people who say you need to precook the apples. No. Don't do that. This is traditional and delicious.
@amandavelasquez33193 жыл бұрын
Adding that butter on top does wonders before adding the top layer of crust! Listen to her people! I’ve always done my pies this way and she is absolutely right! This is the first time I added nutmeg to mine and hopefully it doesn’t ruin the pie.. thanks for the tip!

I made this for Thanksgiving. I would modify to no lemon because it was way too tart, I also substituted white sugar for brown sugar and as others suggested I used less nutmeg. The pie crust I used 8tbs and omg it was so delicious! My mistake was not to put enough egg wash because it wasn't as golden. But overall it was amazing!!!!

I tried this and it came out great! Just a few tips: 1. The pie definitely needs to cool after baking. I refrigerated it overnight, but I'm sure it'd be fine after just a few hours too. 2. If you don't love sourness, mix in some red apples with the Granny Smith, and maybe decrease the amount of lemon. 3. After you season the apples, add ~1 tbsp cornstarch and put them in the fridge. After 30 mins, take them out and drain all the liquid into a small pot/pan. Heat the liquid, and add in ~1/4 stick of butter or margerine and a cornstarch slurry (~1.5 tbsp cornstarch, 3 tbsp water). The mixture will thicken, after which you should take it off the heat and pour it back over the apples. It's a short and easy process, but it makes a huge difference. 4. You can replace all the butter in the recipe with margerine if you'd prefer, and the pie will come out great anyway.

+VeeJay Double u: It's a (somewhat) famous quote from astronomer Carl Sagan, in his book and TV series "Cosmos". Here's the exact quote: kzbin.info/www/bejne/a5DZh3qGrplgqMU He means that the common definition of "from scratch" isn't _really_ from scratch, since it assumes that apples or sugar or other such things already exist. It's a philosophical statement.

To (all my 100% loyal family) (whoever they are) So today, i was thinking about how well, i guess. Just my life as a whole.......... I was wondering.......... "What is it really like to be happy?" to be like "normal people"? (and ofc im normal, just that im a 4 but you get the idea) Because ever since i was born i felt alone, and i never felt like i belonged anywhere, and i didn't feel like couldn't relate to anyone or thing. And the thing is, "i dont know what WILL make me happy" And "I dont know what is the definition of being happy". I'd imagine, life must be pretty great and carefree for people who are not 4's right? ( but ofc im unique even amongst 4's and im THE best 4 there is, and i been over all of this before) And it's like, say in a hypothetical scenario where . _"If i never met anyone online, and i eventually meet a girl and get married and life a happy life"_ I would probably just "eventually get bored of the marriage" and then after that "life as a whole" (well obviously im not going to keep on living and find other stuff to do, but you get the idea) I mean "what else is there to do there? Just live together for the rest of our lives and die?" ( you get the idea) But the idea im getting at here is that. (well like i said before" "I dont know what will make me happy" (not just temporarily just say like perhaps a "stress free life" would be enough for me, and for that i need to like idk get into a rich family so i wont have to work ever or something like that ) (and no, i dont care if the girl fucks other guys, all i want is to live my life without any stress and to not work for the rest of my life and be able to do the things i love everyday. Such as "writting my book" and other hobbies. Because after all if you think about it "That's really all life is about really........" Nothing more than "doing the stuff that you enjoy". And that is why i need to get in a rich family so that i don't have to work for the rest of my life) But besides that though. The thing is. I dont think "i like people in general" anyways I always been by myself(and yes i did social and spent pretty much 95% of my time outside during my child and early-mid teenage years and stuff of that sorts and i been over all of this before) and i enjoy being alone, but the thing is at the same time i actually do like people. Just that I guess "I just want the feeling of them being there to support me" Well........ i guess it's like... "I can't really think of any scenario where i'd truly be satisfied/happy with my life" Unless idk like "Get into like a multimillionaire/billionaire's family and then have them give me a high-tech place in like a secluded place in nature in the mountains of like CA/San Francisco maybe, away from society and then i'd invite people to come in to game,watch movies, and and etc......... with me occasionally." (physically attractive people) I dont know though........ how likely is that actually........ ( prob pretty likely if we're talking about "ultra rich chinese families" idk well ESFP girls that are in them) (well because white families tent to not be that used to other people who are not white) (and ofc that's definitely possible since (In terms of looks (face) im the best there is was and ever will be (real life) and i been over all of this before. Anyhow...................but uhmm...... Oh and I never approach girls in real life (and no it's not just girls, i pretty much just don't approach anyone period). The only times where i approach people is when i need something from them, something that i absolutely need to sustain my health and well being. And i dont really know "how to get out of this loop/habit". I dont know there is a lot of mixed feelings on this part, but i think i might have a lisp too......... I guess only a little. And that's why whenever i talk out loud, "I dont talk out loud that freely" But it should be almost done though. The invisalign is working. (but for the most part i think my speech is pretty normal, since i tested it out before) And actually, that should be all for tonight. I might/maybe go work on some more of my book on microsoft word (im going to get the new book software app for mac when i get my macbook pro 16) Oh and one last thing. When i said that i dont like people I obviously dont mean my 100% loyal family. They are all my 100% loyal family and i love them ofc. To (all my 100% loyal family) (whoever they are) Thanks for reading!

They didn't mention to use granny Smith apples. They taste the best for apple pies. ❤️💚

You added ice cream, which is a pre-made ingredient! Aha!
@emmab54246 жыл бұрын
They said they would make a pie from scratch. The ice cream isn't technically a part of the pie.

We should use butter or unsalted butter?
@ichigopockychan6 жыл бұрын
Use unsalted butter. Salted butter is no good in baking
@runarandersen8786 жыл бұрын
American recipes almost always uses nonsalted butter. Nordic/Norwegian recipes usually uses with salt. And it works very well. It tastes better.
