Maybe it could even have cameras... And a multi touch screen for natural gesture-based interaction without the need for a physical pointing device! And cellular connectivity to use it anywhere. And an incredible search engine system that allowed you to look up anything on the internet. For instance, you'd be able to search "SAMTIME" from anywhere in the world and be instantly entertained by his beautiful face pasted on top of pasty tech startup CEO's faces. That would truly an incredible piece of "AI" technology. Too bad it's beyond our current technology at this time

"Action" is a much more nebulous term and there's no small action models for it to be a successor to, and the term seems to be entirely associated with the R1, which just screams marketing hype. I have a couple of Teenage engineering speakers and they are amazing plus they are still receiving updates even though they are almost ten years old. When I got them, they didn’t have Airplay 2. As much as people are shitting on this, and as much as I'm generally against anything new that's using AI, (just like crypto a few years ago it's supremely interesting technology with a lot of really meaningful applications, and idiots try to shove it everywhere without understanding it, meanwhile sea-slugs blindly hate it without even comprehending the concept) it's actually a pretty bloody good deal and I'd be surprised if their making an even 20% margin all things considered. In 199usd they're seemingly fitting local AI processors, all the standard battery and voltage control shit, a gimbaled/rotating camera, 4g connectivity, etc. While I'd likely never use one personally, it's following the 'dumb phone' ideals that I do respect in that it's trying to take all of the BS 'phone' parts of the phone out of the phone, leaving only what people actually use in the least-annoying and most minimal package possible. Even it's physical design is oddly refreshing in that you're clearly supposed to hold it from the side using your thumb to interact with the rotary encoder, and otherwise being very hands-off. In the age where every device is trying to get you maximally interacting with it, this is very explicitly trying to get you to interact with it as little as possible. It's attempting to fill the "pull it out, do what you want to do, and you're done; it did it's job, put it back in your pocket and move on" niche that really hasn't had much real competition. It's design is clearly inspired, it seems well-built, and the software, while very clearly 1st generation, also appears to have had a lot of passion put into it. Still doubtful I'd ever use it personally, and I'm *_definitely_* dubious that it's managed to pull off the hands-off design it's going for, but it's genuinely trying to be innovative and clearly has some thought and care put into it. As much as I checked out the second it was described as being AI-centric and looked like the Circul bracelet "this is just a hypothetical demonstration CGI fake to illustrate what we think people will like" it actually got my attention back. Not a device I'm personally interested in, but I could see a world where it's a bit of a sleeper hit that does surprisingly take off, and if it can get a few iterations under it's belt it might even be pretty damn good.

Maybe not useful now but I can see this would be much useful once more improvements and optimizations are done or maybe add a separate OS on the phone to run LAM on a virtual space for it not to be a separate device

It's a great idea .. my question is why hasn't Samsung and Apple already had done that on their phones it took this one guy to come up with it first. Lol it's a great start for better things . Regarding using your hands for your phones it's the same as people getting lazy driving hands free lol

It’s all fun and games, but if Apple had been developing Siri so that it did more than respond to people asking it ‘where to hide the bodies’ and other such useful queries, then they wouldn’t have to shoot down a device which is attempting some innovation in a direction which might actually be useful in separating people from their screens a bit!
