The people that side with Miu here can't get past the defendant's framing, "old, feeble man got bullied by teens and defended himself," bs. This guy wasn't feeble. How else could they relish in the death of a 17-year old boy? They fell for the defense attorney's lies as well. Not able to see the truth of things with their own eyes. Those who took the stand, with the exception of Mui, DID tell the truth of what they saw that day. They all admitted that they were wrong in taunting the creature and they all admitted that they should not have done that. They admitted their short comings in the action. The problem with people not using words, de-escalating, or walking away, if we have too many people that have a first instinct of 'standing my ground', we are then likely to see a lot more murders. What people really need to recognize is that this was an adult man, not some poor decrepit elderly person who barely spoke English, but affluence intelligent adult male approximately the same age as the fathers of these children. This would put him into the position of being the person that makes the adult decisions in this situation. Truly all he had to do was walk away but instead he chose to physically aggress upon these kids. Doing so is what caused them to call for other people to help. Enter into the seen some barely adults. The first person he physically assaulted with someone who had just entered the scene and was telling him to do exactly what he needed to do, which was walk away. Why is the 22-year-old more mature than the 53-year-old? Whatever justified him to punch this woman in the face? Absolutely nothing, but that is the thing that sparked the rest of the physical confrontation. Notes, he already had the knife in his hand. Contemplating whether or not he was going to stab this woman or punch her. He chose to punch her and then stab a different woman. The methods that he used to stab these people and gut two of them we're not impromptu. It takes force, rage, and effort to stab someone deeply and for that matter to gut someone with a tiny knife. He then ran off and tried to cover up his crimes. He was calm when police met him. He was not nervous, nor did he show any remorse or upset that he had harmed other people. I'm not sure why any lies, made up details or omissions makes him guilty (of not acting in self defense?). I’m not saying I know for sure, but one possibility is maybe he assessed that the 13 or so youngsters, some of whom had already accused him of ‘looking for little girls’ with no reason, were also going to lie that they didn’t touch him. It would have been many against him alone of acting in self defense. Nic did not know there was a video, which does prove how the gang treated him- just a pity camera man was not smart enough capture proof of a punch by Nic to the girl. If not for that video, he may have been in a worse situation, with no proof of their taunting. I can understand why he was still in fear enough of a murder conviction to make stuff up. He would not have been able to use his best reasoning in both the incident and the post incident adrenaline fight/flight state.
@Leila3i58 ай бұрын
The boy Miu murdered never said Miu was looking for girls. 2 or 3 of the teens said that, and none of them were touched except when Miu grabbed the tubes, brushing their thighs. Please stop spreading the lie that 13 people said he was looking for little girls. When he walked toward the boys, one of whom was the most loudly mocking him, he reached to hold their tubes which touched their legs and thighs. They thought that was creepy. Miu was by himself without a tube, way ahead of his group. That means he looked odd. That was all before the girls came over. They came over because their group was waved to come over. Miu is not the only person with "feelings". At every step, Miu escalated the physical altercation. Miu chose to be alone away from his group, ahead of his group, across the river from his group. That's not what an "old" "weak" "feeble" person does.
@francesholliday54278 ай бұрын
@@Leila3i5 I stand corrected (I'm not too well at the time of my comment). It may not have been all 13 people who said the exact same thing - that he was looking for little girls, but they were either saying he was a pedo or jeering in response, so they may as well have been, when they had no basis. Looking 'odd' or acting creepy, to their eyes (his behavior did have some context if you listen to what he understood from his point of view) was not justification to start insulting him. The intimidation was very uncomfortable to view. He had no reason to think they would tell the truth later so in a way they may have set the rules. If any of them come up with some credible evidence that the girl who came over was punched by him, as opposed to being pushed off him after she kept touching or shouting at (and not listening or helping) him, and the reason for the others to either punch and hold him down, or jeer (or film in one case) as their idea of entertainment, then I reserve judgement. I do wish there had been some sensible adults or parents to step in to prevent this tragedy.

Let's be clear here. He didn't have to turn around and re-approach those people. He didn't have to brandish a deadly weapon. He could have tried to leave. He never did. He pulled a knife and held it by his side, and stood there. He waited. He didn't run. Self defense goes out the window. That being said, in the video, it seems like Miu was in actual danger for his life twice. But considering the above, he didn't need to be in either situation. 1. When he was first punched into the water and then struck again, and stood over. 2. After they were pushing him into the water from behind his back when he was already down. I'd think second degree murder is more accurate here, but not first. Brandishing the knife and standing still instead of running implies he intended to do great harm, but this doesn't look pre-meditated, unless we are arguing that his pre-meditation is within about 10-20 seconds of the incident.

The jury was protecting their sweet little home town Lord of the Flies drunken mob of teenagers.... for the culture.
@gophukyurselvs36218 ай бұрын
What you just said was incredibly dumb. First of all, what the hell are you talking about deeper water? They were literally in water that wasn’t even knee-deep. Second of all he had to walk over the length of a football field to get to those teenagers. His own group member who lost their phone told him not to look for it and it wouldn’t be over there. Nick obviously wanted to go over there harass those teenagers or look for little girls 10 witnesses including people outside of the groups involved, testified that Nick struck Madison in the face with either a punch or a slap He was convicted of battery against Madison meaning everything that happened after that couldn’t be self-defense Those teenage boys are heroes coming to that girls defense. Nick already had his knife out. He could’ve sliced her throat if those boys didn’t come and push him out of the way. The only thing you said that was correct is the jury is trying to save their town. That’s exactly what they did by charging Nick guilty. He is a pathetic waste of space, woman, beater child murderer.

@anti-ethniccleansing4658 ай бұрын
He can be charged for obstruction and hiding evidence for his lies after the event, but rational people know why he lied. It wasn’t because he’s guilty. It was because: 1) It’s well known that people act irrationally right after a very traumatizing event, saying and doing things w/o truly thinking them through properly because of fight or flight mode’s affect on the mind/body. Adrenaline is a hell of a thing. And 2) He didn’t know there was video taken of the incident, so in his mind it was his word versus the word of 13 young adults that had already loudly lied about him and defamed him from the beginning, which kicked all of this off with the inciting of a mob action. In the interview at the police station, Miu says very clearly after the officer says something about him acting in self defense: _“Yeah, but this is Wisconsin,”_ and _“people who defend themselves end up being accused of being this and being that...”_ He obviously thinks that if he were to tell the truth, and nothing but the truth, he wouldn’t have ANY chance at all to be seen as innocent under the law. He thinks if perhaps he just tweaks a few facts, it will give him the edge he needs. And I’m sure that his memory of how things went down was very unclear too, because of how fast and traumatic the ordeal was. The brain goes into protection mode by blocking things out and making things up that didn’t actually happen. I truly feel for the guy. He acted out of panic after the incident was over, which is understandable. He has an unblemished record, and has never been a problem with any of his friends/co-workers/spouse from their testimonies. No background at all of violence or anger management issues. His wife testified to the fact that she still loves him. They had to get a divorce to protect their assets. Someone at his age doesn’t just suddenly, randomly become a mrder. His age and very poor health meant that if he hadn’t defended himself, it is very likely he would be the one to have died that day. Even one good shove on his chest could have done it, because of his recent QUADRUPLE bypass heart surgery! If his head hit a rock as he was being punched to the ground, he could have died. They might have even drowned him. He was in a VERY vulnerable state, and those “kids” were treating him like a punching bag!
