It needs more cameras. Specifically it needs to be able to capture VR180 stills and videos.
@TheOfficialOriginalChad8 ай бұрын
@@kevinbailey8827VR video is headed in a different direction. Simply taking a 180 (or even 360) video allows the viewer to look around, but only in 2D. Taking a 3D video allows the viewer to see 3D, but not look around. There is no physical way to use cameras to take a 3D 180 video that allows the viewer to “look around”. The next phase is using a 3D engine, like a video game, in combination with augmented reality. The area is mapped in 3D and the user can record the subject, which instead of being recorded in a video, is recorded in a 3D model.
@kevinbailey88278 ай бұрын
@@TheOfficialOriginalChad You're wrong about being able to produce 3D VR180 images and videos with a camera. I have a EVO camera that Insta360 put out five years ago and almost immediately dropped. It takes VR180 3D images and videos. I can't use mine anymore because the built-in battery died. Cannon was showing a similar device (though higher resolution) at CES, and if it's under $1000 when it's released I may get one. Insta360 might decide to release an EVO 2. Some of the experiences touted on Apple Vision Pro are VR180 3D, I think. The basketball game, the intimate performance by a singer whose name I can't think of. Where "Spatial Video" feels like reliving a memory, VR180 3D feels like being there. I do hope that recording videos in actual 3D (as a 3D model) becomes a real thing, but I think it's still a few years away from being a consumer-level product.

@@kevinbailey8827 Firstly, there is no such thing as a video format called 3D VR180. Your camera shoots 3D 180, which is 2 Degrees of Freedom. Reminds me a lot of the 1984 rollout of the first Mac. Many of the same concerns: Different from the MS-DOS everyone was used to, weird UI (what is this having to click everything with this “mouse” thing?), long list of tradeoffs (no num pad, no function keys, and no color on the tiny 9” screen); and for all of those compromises, a high price of $2495. And yet, the Mac survives 40 years later. It’s worth noting that adjusted for 2024 dollars, the original Mac cost twice as much as the Vision Pro. I can’t think of a reason why I need Vision Pro, but it’s not like Apple hasn’t gone through this already and won, multiple times (1998: “Why buy this new iMac with no expansion, no floppy drive, and unfamiliar ‘USB’ ports for which no peripherals exist?” 2007: ”Why pay $500 for this new all-touchscreen iPhone with no physical keyboard and no apps? So many tradeoffs!”).
@MichaelSchiciano8 ай бұрын
I think the problem is that in those other cases, such as the iMac and iPhone, they were more 'trailblazing' in their own right, whereas with a product like this, a lot of what is being done simply a 'better' version of what other VR headsets are doing, albeit with its own particular gimmicks attached that can have an intriguing, if limited, use case. It can also be noted that some of the more notable issues at play here are ones that are harder to solve by anyone. Issues pertaining to optics, ergonomics, latency/display tech, and so forth. If they really want to do AR - this is the wrong type of product to do that, because it's trying to do AR in a VR form factor. While the iMac lacked expansion, it also was incredibly easy to set up and get running right away, which was part of its pitch to consumers. While the original iPhone was costly and limited, it got a lot of the fundamental ergonomics of using a touch screen solved by step one, including scrolling and pinch-to-zoom. With the Vision Pro, Apple hasn't really done a clear job conveying what it is solving outside of looking kinda neat, doing the screen connection with a Mac (though only one screen is a dealbreaker for me), and using it for media consumption. It's not as easy or clear of a product as other notable, enduring products from Apple's history, and it's probably because it is very likely that this is a bridge product - because the product they really want to make isn't even possible yet to their standards.

@@GH0STST4RSCR34M this will happen. 1 . Murphy's law - Anything that can go wrong , will go wrong. 2 things are designed for some theoretical use, but in real life they are always used differently . Example that used in computer ethics. Therac-25 radiation beam therapy machine that uses for cancer treatment. With all defense mechanisms that engineers made, their estimated probability of error less than one out of 1 × 10^-9. (If i remember correctly) But it killed more than 20 people by giving them radiation dose like hundreds times higher than any human could actually survive. So will se not just cars , bicycles , riding a dild0s and things we cannot even imagine.

What’s surprising to me about this review is how much better most all one-man-show KZbinr reviews are, compared to a decent sized media company’s review of it. TBO it feels like this review is still in beta. The comment about how you need to look at your mouse? No, no one is asking you to look at your mouse, just look at where you want on the screen, and then click. Just weird.

The thing with "You cant show anyone else, what you are seeing" is a problem that exists, because most other people dont own a vision pro themselves - or the software isnt there yet) Its the same with alle the other VR headsets. You are playing a lot of single player games, until your friends own another headset. And then its about the software, where you can share things you'd do in irl - like your screen - but in a virtual room. Like if you share your screen with other people in mozilla hub or bigscreen or similiar things. And if you can do this easily, its gonna become good. I didnt manage to share my screen in bigscreen so far. I tried, but it didnt work. Most probably some router ports need to be opened. I couldnt run mozilla hub either for unknown reasons. But if this works out of the box, its gonna help a lot. And you then can share what you see - to people who arent beside you.
