the developer strap… interesting enough… - while for now just doing USB.. it has the pinouts and confirmed that it has displayport and thunderbolt abilities .. but its not activated. so tethering might be possible in the future is suspected… which would be awesome..

i just got my crystal light, not as big a difference that youtubers are saying... i have a 4070 super and I have to turn down the rez to much that it does not look much better than my quest 3

Wait for the RTX 5000 series? just a few months out. However, I speculate that although nVidia will make the 5080 just a bit slower than the 4090 the price will also increase relative to the 4080 super, 1200$. So 30-35% faster than 4080 but also 20-25% more expensive. The 5090 will be a lot faster but will also start at I guess 1800$? Most likely higher than the msrp of the 4090... The previous generation is more being used as the "low-end" instead of being replaced by the new generation. There will be a large performance gap between -80 and -90 card, again. So save up for the 5080 or sell a kidney for the 5090 :) so you can get your Crystal to 35PPD instead of the Quest3 25PPD.

I would have to agree, when I first got the headset I had the resolution set too low to take advantage of the pixels and it didn't look like anything special. Once I set the resolution to about 3500 vertical then I was blown away. Kind of makes me think the Crystal Super is pointless. BTW I have a 4090.

I have an OG Pimax Crystal and Q3. I prefer the crystal for everything Pc-related. The DP makes a big difference for me. I would probably pay that kind of money for a pc specific headset, I though the XR4 was the answer but that doesn’t seem to be going the way we hoped it would.

The problem with High End VR today is one thing only: Quest 3 exist I have every one you mentioned apart of Simmnium or whatever it's name is and XR-4, Quest 3 is more than enough for majority of use cases in PCVR

Sorry but Quest 3 is not the go-to solution for PC VR imho. Why on earth did they not include a display port cable natively for the Quest 3 ? In that case, it would have been a slam dunk. But they insisted on making it first and foremost a standalone device.

Don't do something stupid like that. LOL. Are you serious? Keep your Mac buddy, it's still relevant and necessary. Quest 3 is actually way better than AVP as a standalone. Not sure about Varjo, and which one you have. Trust me, AVP is not worth it at all. Unless you're an apple fanboy, and succumb to the ecosystem, then maybe that's your headset. In the end it's up to you.

It is really unfortunate that Apple did all it could to distance itself from VR, not even mentioning this acronym once in the Vision Pro presentation, and instead insisted on "spatial computing" Now that the Vision Pro is starting to look as a failure for "spatial computing"... VR applications are being considered ? Mmmmm... The PC VR crowd is forgiving, but price has to come way down.

Granted, "long term" here means 3 to 4 months of usage, which is indeed not a very long time. But the outlook is bleak. Another way to measure the Vision Pro success or failure : are developers flocking to it ? Who in his right mind would start to develop for such a tiny demographic ?

The XR-4 already has most of that covered. Not micro OLED but the black levels are about 95% as good as OLED which is wild and it has DisplayPort.

If you live near an Apple Store, you should sign up for a demo of AVP. Take your glasses if you wear them. Experiencing it won't lower the price, but it will show that Apple nailed the experience in just about every way.

The vision pro doesn‘t even want to be a vr headset. I think overall it is the best gaming headset considering its full potential (perfect steam link streaming, native mr apps, tons of compatible ipad games, alvr pvcr streaming). The vision pro is too good to flop. Apple will nail it.
