I'd also like to add that in the case of the Apple pencil, Apple's UITouch API only shares a small subset of the iPad's data touch points, forcing third-party developers to create complex and processor-intensive algorithms to guesstimate their pen's touch location, draw trajectory, and palm rejection. Apple, on the other hand, has access to ALL of the iPad's data touch points, ensuring that their apple pencil will always outperform the competitors. Sure, as a consumer you still technically have a choice, but the fact that apple witholds important data that cripples their competitors really delves into the realm of monopolistic practices.
@aahillakhani3992 жыл бұрын
true, but was all that data even present before apple developed the apple pencil and iPad pro?
@nicid542 жыл бұрын
@@aahillakhani399 That's a good question. This data was not available before the pencil was developed, and more importantly it wasn't available after. I'm not a Apple user and never will be but I remember with my first Android "smartphone" which was the Sony Ericsson Xperia mini (the second mini they made, not the first with the 3 physical buttons in the front) and I remember coming from a non "smartphone" which was the Sony Ericsson K750i (yeah awesome phone) that they were tons of basic things missing like THE flashlight app to simply add a button to activate your flash. It felt so dumb to me at the time, for a smartphone to need a app for literally everything (including you sneezing). File management, guess what, you need a app. You want your time in your home screen to be displayed as 24h, another app which is a widget which you need to search and find the best for you without any full screen ads popping up (yeah remember those?) for such a simple thing to do for a phone that is called SMART. No notes app either, basic things like the percentage calculation missing in the calculator which guess what, I had all this in the K750i before getting into the world of "smartphones". And if this seems like a interesting topic to you and a paradox and liking my long comment so far (yeah I'm a writer a write a lot blah blah) then I encourage you to just Google how old the Sony Ericsson K750i is now, and how old already was then compared to the Xperia mini cause yes I got into the smartphone world late compared to others due to financial issues which is really sad cause I like tech and I know how and want to use it. But it is what it is. And I also remember that until I understood how the Android OS worked I really felt like my K750i was a computer much more capable of executing basic stuff than this so called smartphone at that time. Now we got all these "features" baked in either it's Android or iOS. It makes you think, didn't they already know what phones had and should have before making the newer and supposedly better ones? Cause at the end of the day they are tools that we use the make our life better and easier and why not, more fun! Not the opposite! My bloody K750i had a flash with its 2 MP camera which you could use also as a flash with the press of 2 buttons while the first iPhone didn't even had a bloody FLASH! Only to add it later as a "innovation" which you needed a third party app to use as a flash to later bake in to the software itself? You call that smart? Think about that for a minute.

Agree with the premise (apple can trample ecosystem), but not the conclusion(that there is any injustice to it). Sadly there is nothing we can do. No other company offers what Apple offers. It's convenient and it saves time. I wish congress would Apple Pay for what they done. But is it any better if the US Government starts telling private companies what to do? Who do we give the power to? When iBooks came out they tried forcing Scholastic to publish their books on iBooks and that way apple would keep a portion of the sales. Scholastic refused and they were banned from the app store. Recently there was Apple vs. EpicGames (Fortnite), EpicGames managed to developed a way to introduce direct payments on their games and apple removed Fortnite from the App Store since they were not gonna profit from sales anymore. Apple banned Xbox Game Pass app, the app was supposed to allowed users download and play xbox games on their phones, but apple had Apple Arcade on the way so the app was rejected. I was also considering getting Duet Display a few years back so I was excited when Apple introduced Sidecar and I didn't have to pay for the feature. It would be nice if Apple bought those companies before just eating their whole business, and I don't think it's fair to ban apps just before they release the same feature natively. But I understand they have great developers themselves and don't need to buy companies I guess. It's discouraging for developers and people with handy ideas tho. It seems like building a business just around a feature for apple products is a dangerous territory.

It’s actually such a weird scenario and I still don’t know where I personally stand on this. Because on the one hand, they’re killing some of these smaller companies and just obliterating their IOS market share. On the other hand, those companies simply wouldn’t exist or even have that market share if it weren’t for Apple’s existence. As someone who is part of the Apple ecosystem and has used Tiles for a while now, I’ll be buying the Airtags because they’re simply a better product for me as a consumer. But is it actually fair? Honestly I don’t know.

@@MrDSimba because apple has/have a headstart over everything and it's the iPhone; simple.
