@heroninja11254 ай бұрын
@@The92Waffles At this point, making technology more modular and customizable is where new phones could differentiate themselves. The problem is that companies don't want to do this as it is not profitable for them. Making a device that can come apart means that people can replace individual parts when they are no longer useful or are outside of their lifespan, which is tremendously cheaper than buying a new phone or device. It has come to a point where companies like apple, dell, hp, samsung and more keep trying to tell people that devices are unrepairable and need to be replaced because the technology is "too advanced" to be repairable. This has bled down to everything from phones to even dishwashers and now cars. Cars that were previously serviceable by anyone, that you could easily find new parts for.

Also the $1,000 price shock. But the general public in the US failed to understand that the $1,000 is for the device if you pay it off immediately (which I highly recommend, because of the fact that you can use MVNOs or prepaid plans, or change carriers later at any time without contracts or unlocking). Most people I knew instead did monthly financing with their carrier. Likewise, the carriers switched to more transparent pricing models (how much you pay per month for the phone) by the time the iPhone X came out. The iPhone 3G from 2008, on the other hand, was subsidized in the US for a $200 down payment + 2 year contract. As someone who has followed the iPhone market since 2009, I know that pricing models have changed from subsidies and contracts to monthly pricing.

I always found the "controversy" over the iPhone X"s $1000 starting price to be a bit overblown. Sure, their new top tier phone was now more costly then previous top tier model but it wasn't like they stopped selling all under $500 "budget" iPhone models. You could buy the SE for $350, 6S for $450, and the 7 for $550. (as seen in the graphic at 7:10 in the video). Yes, these two models were older generations but they ran the latest iOS version at the time and had good cameras and screens and such, even if they didn't have all the latest features the iPhone X was delivering they weren't bad phones for a person on more of a budget. Also, lets not forget that the iPhone X's features would come to the budget models in time as the 6S and 7 once were Apple's flagship phone when they were first released (2016 & 2017 respectively).

I was very sorry to see the phone’s brains fail without warning, which got the device stuck in a boot loop that I couldn’t fix with the typical fixes. I sent it to Apple for repair, and they said it was totally toast. I put up with an extra Android someone loaned me until I could get a 14 Pro Max once they were released. I never used an Android as a full time device. Worst time of my life, lol. Been using iPhones dating back to the iPhone 2, lol. @@doobadood if u actually spend $2000 on a new phone ur just $tup!d or rich, max im going is $1000 and that’s still pushing it

@@brynx24 and never forget inflation too, consumers just deal with it. Personally I'd get the 15 Plus/Pro titanium somewhere in the future if it didn't cost like a high end PC/gaming laptop.

I got the iPhone X on launch day and said what kept it from being the ultimate iPhone was it was a little smaller than I liked. When the larger XS came out also got it launch day and held onto that thing for 4 years.

2027 is probably when Apple will introduce a foldable
@nelxcix4 ай бұрын
I doubt it. Knowing apple won’t do anything impractical unlike Samsung. But who knows they might do a foldable that’s tougher and no crease but also it might not happen.

Is it just me or is the audio/video quality really low even at 1080p?

Many other manufactuers jumped on the notch trend. Teardrop notches were a great relief over the wide ones, and the punch hole camera became the most comfortable method, apart from the pop up camera of the OP7 pro and the in-display camera of some mix phones. Nobody has tried it, but electrochromic glass really should be looked into. Its a glass that turns frosted when charged, and transparent when released (Its usually the opposite). It can blend the light of surrounding pixels or shrink the punch hole. Or, a seperate screen that slides over the camera.

Ok... I'm about to go down a rabbit hole. Just ran a search on "Electrochromic glass" Thank you.

i remember the morning of the release sitting in class watching mkbhd's snapcaht stories and freaking out about how a phone has no buttons haha

I was working for samsung IT dept at the time and was amazed by it. And that outrageous price. Saw someone dressed like plain as a library buy the 256gb and was so excited, said he worked hard for it. Shook his hand, told him to enjoy

My all time favorite smartphone was the iPhone X, it was my first ever iPhone I’ve gotten on launch day and that phone genuinely felt every bit worth $1000 back in 2017 and everything about it just felt incredibly polished and excellent. I’ve owned all the pro series models since but the X was by far the most impactful one. I’d love to have another experience like that with an iPhone again but I don’t see that happening again for a very long time

By the way. The IPhones are a lot more expensive here. The iPhone 15 cost about $4,000 AUD

Crazy that after all these years, Apple is still leading smartphone design with Dynamic Island. Makes me wonder how long before we see that on all flagship Android devices

Been using my Xs Max since 2020.(512GB Space Grey Variant) I had a D-Brand skin on the back since then. I recently took the skin off finally and man it feels premium still. Feels like a new phone again. Tbh not sure when I’ll upgrade. Everything works just fine.

The iPhone X was the last time Apple really innovated with the iPhone. I feel like the next real innovation will be from a full under screen face ID system or a foldable / flipable iPhone. Before that all we get is small improvements.
@ForgottenC28902 ай бұрын
Yeah, hopefully they find a way to put the face id system under the screen, and increase the refresh rate because it's still 60hz in 2024
