I switched from a Huawei flagship to an iPhone 15 Pro Max a few months ago. Although I have a lot of apps and structures, I found the switch extremely painless. I really enjoy the iPhone so far, it gives me joy to use it. I keep switching back and forth between apple and android every few years, for no reason, just curiosity and I never regretted going either way and the transfer keeps getting easier. There are people who really like to stick to "theirs" and prefer to stay with what they know/use - I just get curious about something else/new and switch systems. My hardware is chaos, next to the iPhone, I have a Samsung S9 Galaxy tab, an iPad Pro, a Macbook Air M2, a Thinkpad X1 with dual Win/Linux boot, two big beefy intel/NVIDIA PCs, one with Linux and one Windows. @mikechivy there’s a difference between swiping left to right and right to left. Right to left swipe to go back is a much more intuitive gesture than left to right swipe (for a right hander). And not all iOS apps supports left to right swipe to go back.

I didn't realise how much I utilize the dynamic island until you mentioned it in this video. I have used both platforms since 2008 when I got my Droid Eris. When the Galaxy S3 came out I became a huge fan of Samsung. I remember seeing the original Galaxy Note and loving it but it was only available with AT&T and as much as people were laughing at it I knew it was the future of smartphone sizes. I switched to the Note when they were available with Verizon and stayed with them until the Note 7 debacle, which to this day I felt like it was the best phone I ever experienced. I switched platforms to iOS with the 11 plus and have been with Apple since because I wanted a phone that just worked and played well with my friends and family. I have a 15 Pro Max for personal use and a S24 for work. I don't fully enjoy using the S24 partially because of the limitations/restrictions that my company put on the device. If there is one thing that Apple has an advantage of over other brands is simply the Apple store. I can go to one store and find everything in one place.

The choice between Android and iPhone is a matter of individual taste and priorities. So one cannot say one is better than the other. Neither Android nor iPhone is perfect. Both have pros and cons. Also, it depends on what kind of user you are. Are you a casual user like I am? A casual user does not need rapid activation of smartphone functions. Performance is almost never an issue. A casual user can easily acclimate to 60Hz refresh. Examine your personal needs and wishes. This will determine your choice. Here are a few things to consider: 1. Ecosystem-which ecosystem serves you better? 2. UI/UX-which phone do you enjoy using more? 3. Compatibility with your friends and family. AirDrop and iMessage are good examples of this.

Great video. Your drawback section is a reminder that there’s no point in comparing an Android phone with the iPhone because the Android phone is a product whereas the iPhone is a component of the product. Most of the drawbacks you pointed out are due to the fact that there’s no Android ecosystem but rather it’s a field with some of the most beautiful flowers (some way better than Apple) and some of the most barren land devoid of any life. Android is all about customization of each part of that field. For Apple it’s about selecting the components (iPhone, MacBook, Watch, etc) of the ecosystem and it has to work because at the end of the day, it’s an appliance. So I am sure that the S24 Ultra is a spectacular phone, but you have to accept the lack of ecosystem and embrace the field with all its awesome attributes and horrible barren parts. For a tech enthusiast like you, I am sure you will have lots of fun and I am looking forward to watching videos about your experience with Android

2:30 I don't buy a phone for having a different look than its predecessors. Thats the most irrelevant thing in a phone ever, I don't understand why so many people put so much importance into a phone having a different design than the versions before it. Design itself? Okay, I understand that. But Design having to look different than its predecessors? Nope, thats not relevant. I don't care how the phones before my phone looked. I bought the Galaxy s10 in 2020 without knowing how the S9 looked. When I bought the Galaxy S8 in 2018, I didn't know how the S6 or S7 looked. Could have looked the same. Could have looked different. And I don't have airpods, an Ipad och an macbook so i'm not locked in. But I don't think i will move back any time soon with the family sharing functions working so well.

Having used an iPhone for decades I’m shifting towards Google’s ecosystem because it’s part of my home utilities. I also believe they will destroy Apple in Ai. Problem is it all feels complicated because they’re all so expensive

With my pixel if I’m on hold when ringing a company for a length of time, pixel has a on hold feature where it goes to “sleep” essentially and wakes up when there is someone back online on the other end ..this feature alone is brilliant , especially if your on hold for ages

I daily drive a Pixel 6 Pro but have a work provided iPhone SE2 and it's given me enough of a reason to stay on Android. Both phones have their advantages but the Pixel feels more welcoming and less clunky to use day to day.

Great video, man. I wish people were more open minded about tech here in the US. Ultimately I agree with you though, people should use what they love and what makes them happy, because....in the end, it doesn't even matter 🤘

I love the fact that we have more of a variety now on which phone you want. For example, we have foldable and flip phones. And yes they're expensive but we have them. In other words, being "locked in" to one phone or platform is a choice.

@9:08 The Android mascot was named Bugdroid by the Google team up and til 2024 when the name was officially changed to "The Bot". The original designer of Bugdroid is Irina Blok, "a graphic designer and artist", according to Google's own Ai Overview feature in Chrome. According to Ai Overview, "The Android mascot's color is a shade of Chartreuse or Caribbean green, which Google uses as the logo color for Android operating system ". When Apple uses green bubbles in iMessage it's Apple being respectful of, Irina Blok, The Bot, and Google as a whole.

I'm switching from z flip 4 to the iphone16 mainly because the cover stopped to open correctly and the replacement costs 600 USD. Having a flip phone was amazing and fun, but I need a solid phone that will last at least 4 years.

I moved from the S22+ to the S24 Ultra because my phone was slowing down and I have to say, the point that really resonated with me before even buying this phone is the fact that people switch to try something different. I'm still in the fence about keeping the S24, because although I absolutely love the cameras, it's a big phone and I know that the 16 Pro is smaller, and will have it's own great set of cameras. Honestly, I might pick up the iPhone just to try it and see which ones will be better long term size included after doing some camera tests. 😅

I went from the s22 ultra to the iPhone 15 pro max last year and don’t regret a thing. The reason? I was a bit bored of Samsung (had four of their flagships), that’s all. You cannot go wrong with these two brands 😊
@PeteMathesonАй бұрын
yeah I'm really liking the smaller size of the 16 Pro this year (not being forced to get the Max version) So will be dual carrying for the forseeable!
@jarosawskrzypek1373Ай бұрын
And that is also very important aspect which people miss. OK, Android flagship is snappier than iPhone in the first year but you can keep the same iphone for 4-5 years and be the same happy and not feel it slowing down, whereas Android gets noticeably slower after 2-3 years - I tested this myself in the last 15 years being once in Samsung and another in Apple ecosystem. Apple wins.

Great review! By the way, WhatsApp is total crap to exchange photos and specially videos even in HD. The quality is below anything acceptable specially coming from iMessage. But RCS does a great job!

Just about to go from 14Pro to the Honor Magic V3. Have jumped before, but always gone back to Apple. But I want to work better this time, so I'm going to have to put in the effort to learn the tweaks etc. One thing I cannot wait to get back is the Grand Theft Auto Radio App for Android Auto...assuming the source is still running

Pete, you can authorise screen shots for 15 minutes at a time in the banking app in the security settings.

Already made the decision to switch to android again, the lag on iPhone, connectivity issues (Bluetooth, WiFi, Tethering), and subpar antenna 📶, is all too much to put up with.🤯🤯🤯

What a great way to say it! If you are bored, just switch. I am a civil engineer, an android user for most my life and the last 4 years switched to iOS. Even if I love the iPhone, I wish I had a stylus to draw my notes quicker , maybe that it would fold to save some space or become bigger, or just do something new and great but in truth they are just reliable and boring.

Switched from S23 Ultra to iPhone 16 pro max, which is my first time using an iPhone since the iPhone 4s. Tbh I am loving it, there's some features that are just better on iOS and others that I'll miss from android. The phones really aren't that different overall surprisingly, the main thing I like is actually the apple watch S10. In my opinion, it is so much better than my galaxy watch 5 I was using before and it isn't even close!

And that open element is an issue... your data. I used Android over iOS for 8 years before moving back from a security standpoint. Building PCs since late 80s, 35 years plus of building out networks I just found too many holes. After I brought this up to peers I found out most security engineers I know around the world have moved to iOS and MacOS over the past 4 or 5 years due to similar reasons (I'm an old Unix / Linux guy anyway to having a real UNIX kernal is a wonderful thing with MacOS). You note that the different elements "pretty much" work... I'm busy, I don't have time to deal with "pretty much." While it seems like Apple costs more I'll note a huge change some may miss. I have 4 sons, when all of us had Android everyone wanted a new phone almost yearly, they couldn't wait to upgrade. After moving to Apple it's the exact opposite, it works, they really don't want a new phone, basically "I'm happy, I'm getting updates and it doesn't feel slow." This could be because as you note, there is a new Andoid phone almost every month or it could be due to the iOS integration with other products. I think the bottom line though, if security isn't a great concern, is exactly as you state at the end of the video. Quit worrying about what everyone else is using and use the one that works for you. For my family and now extended family as well, that's iOS after almost a decade in the Android camp. It definitely seems like you are enjoying the S24 Ultra, kudos to finding what works for you!

funny, i work in tech and most of the security teams personal phones are androids. our chief researcher uses a pixel. my work phone is iphone cuz well i dont have a choice. my personal phone is S24U, and security? android has tons of options, plus i can add real security software, like bitdefender and it has full access to the disk, api and OS. bitdefender on ios does nothing. sure, iphone has pretty good defaults, and decent hygiene. and some pretty good advanced security features. but to say nothing of that exists on android? yea not a thing. browsers on iphone are all basically safari skinned, on android all the browsers are the browsers full stack. and i can set any to be default. and some have extensions. most security folks say, top phone for security is a pixel flashed to graphaneOS. also, if security is your top concern, think about this. on iphone there is NO way to know if your phone is hacked unless apple tells you or you happen to notice. (yes it happens) at least on android you can layer on security tooling.

Same here. iOS and iPhone have many positives, but the negatives just massively got on my t**ts (mostly keyboard and navigation that are a drag for me). Ordered an S24+ I don't have anything negative to say about platforms in general. I'm not in this platform war nonsense. They both have things that annoy me, but the things on Android don't matter as much to me.
@Dr904Ай бұрын
About iPhones feeling slower. (on top of all the things you already mentioned) iOS have had pretty bad framerate stability and input latency issues for the past few years! Yes. On ALL devices. Even the newest ones! It's not bad enough for the average user to notice. But anyone who is sensitive to this kind of stuff definitely will.
