The enhanced versions were always a tough sale for this reason. Either you bought the originals and then don’t have much reason to buy a fully priced enhanced version of the game you already played, or you purposefully waited for the enhanced version but you don’t even know if it’s coming or not. Plenty of people avoided buying XY because they wanted to wait for Pokémon Z, but it never came

Emerald and Platinum, despite being considered two of the best games in the entire franchise, didn't sell particularly well because players and critics didn't feel there were enough changes to R/S and D/P to warrant paying full price for a new game. That's probably why Gamefreak stopped selling a third "definitive edition" game for each generation. We all remember them as masterpieces however, because A.) They WERE masterpieces, and B.) We have emulators now and can play said masterpieces for free.

Black/White are really flawed, but the story and characters are really charming. Maybe not the most replayable game, but definitely worth a playthrough. Black 2/White 2 on the other hand went a little lighter on the story but in return pretty much fixed every single flaw present in Black/white and added some really great long-term content with the PWT and Black Tower/White Treehollow. To this day i consider Black 2/White 2 the most repayable games that don't feel aged at all

I mean... if you think about it, it makes sense why Crystal, Emerald and Platinum were the worst selling games. It's not that they were bad or anything. They just didn't sell well, because when they came out, most people already had the previous version of those games, so buying another version that didn't actually add that much compared to the original was just not worth the price for most people. They're still the definitive versions of generations 2,3 and 4 though, and definitely the best way to play them. There's a good reason, why they cost a small fortune in online markets now.

I used to play Pokemon when they originally came out, I had yellow green and red. Then I got hit with adulthood and I didn't play anymore. Then at a pawn shop about 3 years ago I found an old Nintendo color and it had a couple of games with it with Pokemon Black2 included. I bought it then for my youngest kid. He prefered to use his tablet instead, so I grabbed it and I didn't let go about 6 months ago. This game is so nostalgic and it's freaking awesome.

Short and sweet answer: The definition of “faithful remake” was so *EXTREMELY* taken to heart in their production that they didn’t fix the original bugs and glitches Diamond and Pearl had and left them in. They also left in the obnoxious Gym that required math solving skills to progress that Platinum removed completely. Oh, and the Game Corner didn’t come back in the same capacity. No Battle Frontier as well, I think.

I loved Platinum, it was so sick, that was the first time I got a shinny pokemon it was a Green Zubat hahaha still I remember vividly how I stumbled upon him. Also Giratina was so cool at least when it was in its flying form, not the one with the chunky legs haha

Platinum was my favorite game out of the entire series. Cyrus and Cynthia actually made me feel like I was being challenged, especially with the perfect music, Giratina was a huge surprise to me because I genuinely had no clue it even was supposed to appear there. The best events happened in Gen4, and that was where I got my Gible. (Yes, I got a Gible before I knew Cynthia even had a Garchomp, it ended up being a crazy fun face-off betweem mine and hers.)

I love the older ones, but when I was young I think I played Pokémon Colosseum and that was one of the best. The real feel to moving around and then the battle bosses up the stairs. Just felt really cool. I’m re playing yellow atm and I love it

Thats wild to think about and it is indeed my favorite. Renegade Platinum and Energized Emerald are my favorite romhacks currently. Can you make a video about finding places where developers can be hired to create pokemon romhacks? As in add additions onto currently made romhacks. I would love to add the ability to increase the PC boxes in Pokemon Energized Emerald but the developer said it was too difficult... why is that everytime I offer them hundreds of dollars to do very small adjustments for me they decline. Is that for legal reasons? Edit: Forgot to mention all gen 1-3 pokemon are available and I was gonna make a living dex. However generation 1-4 within Energized Emerald would be amazing too and very decent bounty if your willing...

Pokemon Yellow is my all time favorite. I was in Kindergarten, my mother came to pick me up and couldn’t wait to give it to me! I had Red version the xmas before, but i’ll never forget the excitement on her face to see my reaction! Great memory and i miss her everyday. You still earned a sub tho for making me think of this 🔥

I guess Emerald sold better is because they thought it's gonna be a completely different game from Ruby and Sapphire and they got a little disappointed about it being thesame with some minor changes just like basically buying a DLC with a full game price. And they didnt wanna make thesame mistake with Pokemon Platinum. That's why that third game trend just died.

mine is yellow, it kinda goes by the original anime, you fight jessie and james, and you get pikachu first, and if you talk to the right people, you get all 3 of the other starters throughout the game with the same backstories to those pokemon.

Opening that crystal version when I was a kid and pulling out that blue and sparkly almost see through cartridge was one of the peak gaming moments for me but my favorite pokemon game of all time is hg and ss. Fr and lg hold a special place in my heart because they were given to me as a surprise gift too

Gold and silver are my favorite. 16 badges and 2× elite 4 means you got twice the game for the price of one. It has the hardest cpu trainer of the franchise in Red giving it the most lengthy full playthrough in my opinion. It gave you a reason to grind your pokemon levels without feeling as grindy as the others after lv. 50.

The main series pokemon game with the least units sold was Pokemon Crystal. While least units sold sounds bad, it still moved 6 million units. For reference, that means it outsold every GBA game that wasn't a Main Series pokemon game.
