Version 4 coming late 2020...assuming no disasters derail us.

Wish I had found these before the event I attended. The prep is on point! I was one of the people who showed up with my scope set too far back behind the rifle’s receiver, a rifle stock with too short LOP, and with a slippery nylon “quick adjust” sling…all of which caused great frustration for me throughout the entire first day because I couldn’t achieve a repeatable shooting position or use the loop or hasty sling techniques. I ended up using a loaner rifle on day two and only then could I begin applying and practicing the disciplines presented. I did not qualify but am actively building a more perfect 10/22 and will return to hopefully not just qualify with marksman, but achieve rifleman. Great course training and instructors!!!

A fast course correction due to a teachable attitude! I bet you'll get the patch on your next try..and then go on the participating in a Known Distance clinic. I have a few videos on setting up a Ruger 10/22... www.ambgun.com/ambidextral-rifle/22-long-rifle

At the young age of 60, and not having handled a rifle in 20+ years I'm looking forward to attending an Appleseed in just a couple of weeks. Your playlist is a great asset and by using it I'm sure it will help me get the most from the event. I'm going with a 10/22 (why argue with success?) with the volquartsen bolt release and target hammer kit. It really lightens and cleans up the trigger pull, and they sell it as a package for about 50 bucks. Gotta love it. Great job on the series.

That target hammer is amazing. I got mine for $38 and it gives an awesome trigger

@@AmbGun had a bad mag change (didn't get it seated all the way) that caused a bad jam on my seated stage that possibly cost me rifleman, but I'll be going to more. Great time, great people, great instructions. I know the rifle is more than capable, I know that rifleman is something I'm capable of. I did clear the final redcoat target with comfort Sunday afternoon so rifleman is next Your series was incredibly useful. On the first redcoat target the staff thought I had been to at least one before, and I explained about your series.

@@markley02 best deal out there. If the stock trigger is a 3 on a 10 point scale, 40 bucks gets you to a 7 or 8 IMHO. Yea, a Timmeny or Kidd will get you a 10, but at 4 times the price. 120 bucks is a LOT of 22 ammo to practice with, and with field marksmanship, practice is paramount.

Did you end up getting your Rifleman patch?

Thanks much. Excellent presentation. I was not well prepared for my first Appleseed a few weeks ago. After your videos and practice with my 10/22 I will have a much better experience at my next Appleseed.

Let me know how it goes.

Great video, thanks. Please understand that the 'objective' (lens) is the one towards the object (in the front in this case).

Right...eyepiece. "Eyepiece" always comes to mind, but it sounds wrong in my head...too non-technical, so I routinely fail back to objective. "Fail" being keyword. Thanks.

Question about the sling. I'm probably over complicating this. Since 10/22's are the most common rimfire in America and most of them come without swivel mounts, I have a question about what is required. It seems as though AS teaches and uses a method in which the rear point of the sling is detached and wrapped around the support arm. That being the case, is a rear sling mount required at all or can you just use the Appleseed Sling Connector sold in the store. My wife wants to keep her rifle stock with no mounts so I'm looking for the best options. Thanks!

You are correct. Most people use the loop sling (only attached to the front of the rifle) for all stages. They will demonstrate other ways to use the sling as a shooter's aid, but the loop sling is the most effective especially for stage 4.

The content of this video is excellent, but the production value could be significantly improved upon. Looks like it was filmed inside an RV with no lights on. From a Rifleman.

Yep, on all counts. Back then I was using my phone. Maybe someday, I can reshoot the series.

Why d the mags ? Why 4&2
@AmbGun3 жыл бұрын
Loading two mags...one with 8 rounds and one with 2 rounds. A couple reasons...kind of a tradition from the M1 Garand training days. But for modern purposes, its to fire a total of 10 rounds (for easy, consistent calculation of scores) while doing a mag change.

Two little details when using an AR. If you are going to run .223, make sure it is reliable in your firearm. .223 will be undergassed compared to 5.56. When painting the ambi side of the safety, use you women's nail polish and non-acetone nail polish remover if you go overboard.
@AmbGun4 жыл бұрын
I'll be sure to add both recommendations to version 2.0 of the series...maybe next year.

I found that nail polish is kind of a pain to work with. A paint marker and a little bit alcohol on a Q-tip is a lot easier, faster and it comes out super nice.
