This video is excellent. I do wish there was a little more clarity and tips on getting the gasket on the inner tub, as it is NOT EASY. When I checked out a different repair video (that was NOT as good as this one BTW), they mentioned putting a thin layer of liquid dishwashing detergent around the lip/edge of the white inner tub. Once I did that, getting that difficult step done was fast and easy. Unfortunately, I struggled for about an hour in total failure and profanity before then. The inner tub metal ring is also hard to get back on - may be easier with two people if you're not super-coordinated and/or strong. Good luck to all the DIY-ers and thanks so much for this video. The quality of your videos is the reason I always buy my washing machine parts from your company.

This is an excellent video because it shows every single step of the repair. Oftentimes, the "amateur" vids skip over the difficult steps!

I've watched several videos to installing the gaskets, and this is by far the best one I've watched! Very step by step, great camera angles, and love that you used tools that everyone has lying around! Awesome video man, thumbs up!

Delayed this job with a few goop patches on a tear at 6 o'clock, but dug into it today. Very glad I had this step by step guide. I found a little dish washing liquid (very little) helped get the inner lip in place. Turned a pretty epic tug o' war into it just snapping in place. Didn't need it for the outer. First load's done. Thanks for the dry floor :)

I did this replacement yesterday, and this video helped tremendously. The only inconsistency I found was that my washer’s control panel is held on by five screws in front, not four, plus one from the back. I also found that a bit of soapy water on the gasket makes it much easier to snap on the drum housing. I did struggle with the spring clamps, even using ViseGrips, as the gasket kept pulling away. For the door clamp I finally had success with “needle nosed” ViseGrips that made it easier to pull in the right direction.

Glad we could help! A single part can be compatible with hundreds of different appliances. We film the part on a single appliance model to serve as an example of the repair, but there may be slight variations in the process for different models. Thank you for letting us know how the repair went on your model.

I cannot figure out where those two extra flaps end up? Did you have any issue there?
@SteveLionel6 жыл бұрын
I don't know what you're referring to. The gasket has two flap-like protrusions at the 11 and 1 o'clock positions but they're just part of the gasket design and stick into the drum a bit. My old gasket was the same. There were no "extra flaps" that I could see.
@travisjackson85086 жыл бұрын
Thanks! My original gasket did not have those protrusions so I wasnt sure.
@SteveLionel6 жыл бұрын
My guess is that they are intended to keep clothes from hanging up at the top of the door. LG has tweaked the design of these washers (and the gasket) over the years.

Great.video! Although mine was slight;y different (only one hose at the bottom and none on top) this video was perfect! It saved me tons of time and money. I changed the gasket because it was filthy and moldy (not leaking) - glad I did. I Noticed that bottom hose was pretty much blocked up. Luckily it was pretty easy to clean. Thanks for posting!

I have the above replacement part and am trying to use it on my LG RW2455HW. I was told this is the correct part. My machine does not have any hoses attached to the gasket. The new gasket has a connection at the bottom that already is cut out. Do I not have the correct gasket?

@4101dave15 күн бұрын
How did you hold the inner spring still ?
@appliancepartspros15 күн бұрын
It looks like the spring is in the groove on the gasket and that's what is holding it in place.

Video was very helpful. Question . . . It squeaks a bit when it spins and we ran a tub clean after installation and there is a gray residue that I'm assuming is the gasket. Is this normal? Will it stop squeaking?
@appliancepartspros8 жыл бұрын
Is the noise related to the gasket? The only thing the moves close to the gasket is the lip of the inner tub but it should not be hitting the gasket.

Can I put this part in my Kenmore Elite (Connect) washing machine? I spoke to Sears and they gave me the 4986ER0004F part number. I can use this LG gasket on my Kenmore washer, correct? They seem to be the same product even though Kenmore and LG both sell a different version (still same product number though). Confusing.
@appliancepartspros8 жыл бұрын
It could be you have a Kenmore washer made by LG. If Sears gave you that part number for the gasket then it should work. If you need to verify it you can give us a call with your model number: 1-877-477-7278.

You can try to get more grip by placing a rubber band or duct tape over the top of the screw head, then unscrew it.

I bought 4986ER0004F the drain port at the bottom of the new gasket when my washer(LG WM2277HB) drain port on top what should I do?
@appliancepartspros7 жыл бұрын
Some washers have them at the top and some have them at the bottom. You'll want to take the fitting from the old gasket and insert it in the same place it was on the new gasket. There should be an appropriate space for it.
@abiytamene12427 жыл бұрын
The old gasket has a hole on top and the new one on the bottom and have 3 different drain port with out the hole on top
@appliancepartspros7 жыл бұрын
You will have to cut a new hole into the gasket to insert the fitting through. That's explained in the video at about 6:05 : kzbin.info/www/bejne/eWizq2SCfamtj6s
