Time to leave the Farm and submit our Thai Marriage Visa Renewal Application.
We don't normally do videos about Thailand visas on our channel, but this year's marriage visa application highlighted 3 issues. If you weren't aware of them, they may hold up your annual visa renewal.
Thailand marriage visa tips:
1. You now need 4 photos of you and your Thai wife at your home address. 1 outside the front of the property, 1 at the rear or side, 1 on your sofa and finally 1 on your bed. You need 2 copies of each.
2. Make sure your Thai bank account stays active throughout the year. One transaction per month is acceptable, but make sure you have a transfer of money going in on the month you are submitting your application.
3. When you request a bank statement of the balance, make sure it matches the amount in your updated bank book. Money transferred takes 24 hours to show on a printed statement.
Below is what's required for your first Thai Marriage Visa application. Both first applications and renewals cost 1,900 Thai Baht.
Thai marriage visa application process:
Foreigners who are legally married to Thai nationals may apply for a Non-immigrant O visa based on their marriage in Thailand.
You can apply to live in Thailand long term if you are married to a Thai or have a Thai child or children.
The marriage visa for Thailand is issued at the Thai Embassy in your home country. It is normally issued as a single-entry visa and is valid for 90 days once you enter Thailand.
These are the documents you need to start the process, and they will get you a single-entry or multiple-entry visa.
Certain embassies want to see at least 100,000 Thai Baht in a Thai bank account to issue you with a multiple entry “O” visa or marriage visa. These do vary from embassy to embassy.
Once you enter Thailand, you have 90 days to extend this visa for 1 year, and this process normally takes 3-4 weeks to complete.
Documents required for the extension of the marriage visa:
Copy of your passport;
Copy of your Thai marriage certificate (both versions);
Copy of your Thai wife’s ID card;
Copy of your Thai wife’s Tabian Baan (House Papers)
Copy of a map to your residence in Thailand;
Copy of photos showing you and your wife together;
Copy of your bank book showing 400,000 Thai Baht in your bank account or
Copy of your income showing 40,000 Thai Baht per month in income
As stated, the process takes about three weeks, and you would need to ensure that once it is issued, you obtain a re-entry permit to ensure that when you leave Thailand and return, you do not invalidate the extended visa.
With this extended visa, you do not need to leave Thailand every 3 months to activate another leg of your visa.
You only need to report your home address to Thai immigration every 90 days.
