Great stuff. Nice video. It is so easy to work with. Nice working time. I did the whole hood, the whole trunk etc on My 2004 Vette. Zero issues. No high spots, etc. just shine! It still repels water even after being applied in November of 2017.

I applied EXOv4 the next weekend after applying CSL and it worked great! Still beads like the day I applied it after 1 year! Just my experience though.

Did you garage the car and not used it, then just simply applied EXO4 next weekend or did you washed car, used Panel Wipe to prep, then applied EXO4?

I am at you Gtechniq certified installer for almost 10 years and I could tell you your process was 100% wrong and I don't care how it came out but you shouldn't be telling people to wait a week before applying V4, V4 is to be applied roughly 2 hours after and no longer than 12 hours after the crystal serum light or serum ultra.

The Gtechniq website doesn't say there's a minimum amount of time to apply ExoV4 over CSL- "If you are applying over CSL, EXOv4 can either be applied straight away starting the process at the same place you did with CSL. For best results wait two hours before applying to let the product flash-off longer." Other pro detailers say they've waited 12 hours before applying Exo over CSL.

Not sure where that pipette came from. EXO v4 does not actually come with a pipette. CSL does though.

I am buying a new Lexus NX and the dealer is applying Lexus Top Coat. I don’t have a choice. Should I add EVO over the top? If so, what prep would I have to do considering we will be driving the vehicle a few hundred miles from the dealer which is in another state.

Wade - I would not apply the EVO over the top of the product they are using as you want to apply the EVO on bare paint. I also would check into what product is being used and what it is made of. Most dealerships push protection products as "coatings" and in reality they are simply sio2 based spray sealant like something similar to the CarPro Reload. We often call these top coats as they are generally used to top existing coating layers, however, they can also be used as stand alone protection, they are just much less durable overall. Think a few months instead of a year +. I would recommend not getting this product applied and detailing yourself, or letting the dealer applied product to wear off before applying a coating or another product yourself.

How many coats can you get from the 50ML bottle for an SUV like the one on this video? and how many coats are recommended?

Charles - It all depends on how thin the coating is applied and if you apply it to only painted surfaces or trim, wheels, etc. In general, most 50ml bottles can coat 2-3 average size vehicles. One coat is enough, but if you want another coat we recommend only coating with one more layer.

Hey do you have to throw away towels after exoV4? I know csl you do but my towels look okay unlike csl.

I generally toss towels into a bucket with some water and microfiber shampoo during the coating application. I then wash them all together at the end and inspect the towels after the wash process. Generally if you do not let the coating dry on the towel, you should be able to use them again. There are however times when the towels should be tossed, just test them to be sure.

It is confusing applying 2 coats exo when 1 coat of CSL is stronger right ? And one coat of CSL with or without exo still last 5 years ? Tough to decide which option can add a lot of extra time, how long does 1 coat of exo last? Seems like I should not offer exo and only offer CSL?

One coat of CSL can last up to 5 years. It all depends on how it was applied, how it is cared for and the location in which it was applied/what weather the coating is exposed to. Adding EXO to the top of CSL helps keep CSL protected and does offer a more durable combination of protection. If you want to only offer CSL, that is certainly okay, but we do recommend topping and caring with something like the C2V3 for best results.

What setting do you have the scan grip on to find high spots ? I can never see them with direct light

You will want to play with angles and different settings to help locate the high spots. Sometimes I ever back the car out into the sun and use the light at the same time for some tough to find spots. You can also have a darker room with just the Scangrip, it really just comes down to paint color, how thick the coating was applied, and playing around with different settings, lights and angles.

Anyone used CSL and 2 coats ExoV4 1-2 years ago and now the beading is wearing out and you reapply? Do you have to go through CSL and 2 coats of Exo again or can you just wash the car and add 2 coats of Exo?

When you are reapplying new coating layers, you will want to polish old layers off and reapply completely. With that said, if the car has been cared for you may only need a refresh as you certainly should still have some CSL on the surface. Apply some Gtechniq C2 on top to boost the coating layers underneath. If you have done that and still want to apply new layers, go with polish and reapplication route for best results.

@@DetailedImage thanks for the tip! Gtechniq recommended I try iron remover and GWash to refresh the Exo. I’ll give this a try. Otherwise if I have to take the old stuff off and reapply from scratch once a year, I might as well just wax it 4 times a year for the amount of work going into applying the CSL and Exo coats. Hopefully the iron remover and gwash works. Thanks!

@@pht0001 what happened? Curious if it worked, bc I'm having a similar issue, CSL + exo, car is barely driven, washed every 2 weeks and yet beading isn't as good as it used to be. Did decon wash and everything.

@@thefunkmuppet I talked with Gtechniq and they recommended using their Gtechniq - W3 Ceramic GWash after doing the Iron removal process. I did that but it's marginally back to beading. Maybe just have to use the GWash as the soap to continue the beading. I don't like the GWash as much because there's not much bubbles. I also noticed that the Gtechniq on the Clearbra doesn't bead as much. I used the Gtechniq Halo on the Clearbra areas and it doesn't bead as much in these areas. I ended up using Meguiar's Hybrid Ceramic Wax and it seems to bead nicely now. Will see how long this lasts.

@@pht0001 yup I noticed the same thing on my ppf as well. I used Gyeons ceramic detailer and that has been working really well but it's not very permanent. I don't like using ceramic washes as much bc yeah I'd the foam and they're very finicky if you're washing outside and it dries off. I'm probably going to do another decon, panel prep and then apply exo again and see if that works.

How many towels do you use for application?

I use 4-6 of the 4"x4" suede cloths. For removal, 2-4, folded to expose cleans sides frequently.

On the instructions of EXO4 .. it states that the vehicle has to be kept indoors .... If you don't have a garage, or a facility where the vehicle be kept indoors.... Can you still apply EVO4?

Let me know what you find out but from the information I have found out and read that in your scenario you would apply a immediate layer of C2V3 sealant to protect the coating until it cures

The only worry I have is that of the fact is being applied. Outside...... I'm in sure that should not be an issue but it's their any information about this.

yes just apply c2v3 immediately to protect the exo coating while it cures and prevent water spot damage to it

As long as the surface is clean, you can certainly apply C2V3 on it, even outdoors.

At about 5 minutes, you will see James apply it to an applicator pad and then to the paint. He also then explains the process and how to remove excess coating for a streak free finish.

You can use EXO V4 on PPF but if you want a true protection you need to use Halo by Gtechniq on PPF not V4

EXO will work great on PPF, but Halo is designed for vinyl and ppf surfaces so it will provide you with a better option for those areas for sure.

My first question is why are you sticking to the two by two areas when you can easily do a complete panel with using the three microfiber cloths, also the microfiber calls you are using are not smart because those particular ones leave too much lint and that will get trapped in your coatings always use the MF1 GTECHNIQ TOWEL. THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO NEED TO DO A 2X2 AREA AT A TIME, A FULL PANEL AT A TIME IS ABSOLUTELY WORKABLE. ALSO WHEN I'M DONE WITH THE FIRST COATING I LIKE TO WAIT ABOUT A HALF HOUR DEPENDING ON TEMPERATURE AND HUMIDITY. I've been detailing cars for over 30 years and on the shop and I always do it right and I'm extremely anal about certain microfiber towels to be used with certain products.

When applying a coating we like to stick to a 2' x 2' section. This allows us to make sure we are coating every section and did not miss anything while applying. If you work in a full panel and it works for your application process, that is perfect! It is all about finding what works best for you and there is nothing wrong with applying to a larger area or smaller area during this process. For the towels, some can certainly lint, but we have been using these and have not had issues. If a towel does lint for you, I would avoid it for sure.

@@DetailedImage you just have to buy good good towels, I buy the G-TECHNIQ MF towels and always wash them beforehand, they are incredible leveling towels.
