Finishing a white oak coffee table with Rubio’s Oil Plus 2C Chocolate colour.
This was my first time using one of Rubio’s colour options and wanted to share the process as there are not too many videos on this.

How does one prevent splotchy coloring when using the Rubio stain ? 🙏

I believe this is where your prep work is very important. Sand to a consistent, smooth surface (no more than 150 for Rubio). Clean the surface thoroughly! Then apply the Rubio and work it into the surface with an applicator. After a few minutes buff off the excess. The beauty of Rubio is that it only "takes" what can be bonded with the fibres on the surface. It won't leave a blotchy finish, it won't show lap lines as long as you remove the excess in a timely manner. But it does highlight the grain - and that is not the same as blotchy. Some sections of the grain will take more or less and therefore be darker or lighter. This has to be a feature of wood you're going for when staining - showing the unique beauty of wood! Otherwise paint something if you want it to be completely uniform 🤮

@@billymacmakes Thanks for the response. This product is just mind blowing then after trying different finishes!!! I’m very much looking fwd to trying it. One last thing, So even though your sanding to only 150 does is still leave that smooth nice finish? I usually finish sanding a few grits higher. 🙏

@@olivepressdesign I was a bit skeptical too, but it is really smooth. Buffing it in with the white pads also helps I believe. Try to find some of those if you're going for it. What kind of wood are you looking to finish?
