great video. Is the blue stuff chalk? Where do you get it? Can you reuse the runners for multiple boards?

Nice shed. I gotta say, I tend to over build, but wow, 2x6's for a tiny shed.
@billymacmakesАй бұрын
Thanks Becki. But the 2x6's aren't there for it to be overbuilt. They were planned to be there as a simple backing for the siding to be nailed to. You can see how it works at the 5:00 mark in the video.

I'd prefer just to use little stick on lights as it is much easier to fix if something goes wrong with one of the lights and also means no need to drill holes in the decking
@billymacmakesАй бұрын
Are each of the stick on lights you are talking about battery operated? Otherwise, what are you doing with the wires? You'd have to drill holes to run the wires behind or else you have them in the front, and that is ugly. Each of these LED's is easily swapped out should anything go wrong, as you'd just have to unscrew it from the connection and put in a new one. But after many years, all mine are still going strong!!
@andyb4044Ай бұрын
@@billymacmakes yeah I mean little battery operated ones or even solar ones, no wires and no drilling holes.

Hello there, did you find any issue with the blades being too thin? I recently got a skinnier blades and it didn't fit my saw, I'll need a washer or something to make it work I think.
@billymacmakesАй бұрын
As long as it fits your arbor size, simply tightening the arbor nut down will secure it - no need for washers.

all joking aside, I have a used vintage ryobi AP-10 benchtop planer that has the fold down rollers along with the infeed/outfeeds. I have zero snipe for the first time In my life. I pad 50 bucks for it and bought some new German HSS blades for 30. total 80 bucks for a result that can compete with something sanded with 1000 grit sandpaper. its funny how much I've spent on previous planers that all got stolen, but created the worst snipe ever.
@pstrzel5 ай бұрын
Finally someone who understands that the problem isn't simply the lack of in/outfeed table, but rollers. One sure way to eliminate it forever is for manufacturers to put 2 rollers on both sides.

In 2023 i just bought a house and the living room and spare room heat have "never worked" since the previous owner bought it in "85. A quick look in the basement shows a duct that seems to shoot towards the living room but it has some clear plastic cap on it. Its not even attached to the furnace 3 feet away 🤦

I'm thinking you could get away with small 3-4" pieces that mount on the side of each corner and flush with the front and back edge surfaces. I'd add on each piece with a few dots of cynoacrylate. Then pop off with a hammer when done. Thoughts?
@Aaron-nj4ou8 ай бұрын
Place a piece of melamine inside the full width of the planer with a stop on the infeed side underneath so it can’t get pulled through. The technique in this video will work for a one off but will get expensive having to make piece a for ever piece of wood not to mention the blade wear from cutting into the plywood/ melamine of the runners.
@billymacmakes7 ай бұрын
I have one of those boards too. However, I use this technique when I have a particularly special piece that I want to be perfect. The melamine board does not yield perfect results.
@tagquasar87918 ай бұрын
Great build, so the foundation is sand then pebbles and lastly tiles? then a wooden frame?
@billymacmakes7 ай бұрын
That is correct. Its not subject to much wear. It's under the roof overhang from the garage wall behind it. There isn't much settling almost 4 years later.
@ghabcdef9 ай бұрын
Won't it screw up your blades to run plywood through the planer? All the glue will really muck them up. Better to use cheap pine
@billymacmakes7 ай бұрын
It's certainly not the best for a planer, however I plane lots of cutting board glue ups, so it's getting challenged with that too. It's a helical head, so I can rotate the cutters a few times before they'd need to be replaced.

Great construction! One question: Did you use the exterior siding also on the sides that are protected by the house wall? I want to install it in a place where only the front will be visible and that will save material & cost. Or what did you use to protect those sides? Thanks!
@billymacmakes9 ай бұрын
I did not use any siding on the back portion, next to the house. You can see the bricks from the inside. So it is basically a three-sided shed. Good luck with your build!

Curious as to your thoughts on using 5mm flexible plywood for the wrap around vs kerfs on thicker plywood? What would be pros/cons? Also what would you do differently if you had to build this again 😊
@billymacmakes10 ай бұрын
I'm not sure if the bendy ply comes in Oak. If I were to do it again, I may try to build it so I can wrap it with a veneer to get the smooth Oak finish.
@aristo1888 ай бұрын
probably a better way as you can see in time 7.57 the kerf cuts are causing the bends to have vertical lines
