Excellent start on the specialized industry. Looking forward to seeing how the industries and economy all integrate in the new game during the coming episodes....

Loved the development tree shopping, hahaha! I always want to save them up so I don't run out! 😅😂 Loved the expansion, the specialised industries are so nice. Love how everything is developing so far! 👌👍

Haha glad you liked it!! I know right!? I don’t want to spend them unless I know I’ll use it!! Thanks pal!!

I really love the smaller specialized industry placement. Also a great tip with using paths to change zoning. Wonderful video as always!🎉

Continuing my ongoing theme of encouraging you to explore approaches to CS2 that differ from the tried and true methods of CS1, I have another comment that is intended more in the spirit of challenge than criticism. This time I am interested in the topic of the expansion permits. CS1 Method: the game only allowed players to unlock tiles adjacent to tiles they already owned. Consequence: players became accustomed to designing their city's growth outward from the starting square. Sometimes growth occurred in leaps and bounds....but these were contiguous leaps and bounds (unless one started with 81 tiles unlocked). CS2 Variation: the expansion permits can be spent anywhere on the map, including areas remote from the existing development. However, almost every KZbinr (see below) is simply buying new squares contiguous to the starting squares. To some extent the power/water/sewage game mechanic rewards that model. Likewise the budget mechanics also reward compact building because balancing the budget will become more challenging if the footprint expands. Challenge: Build yourself an exurb nowhere near the starting square. Likely, a nearby road or rail network will be necessary. Think through the power, water, sewage, and resource availability implications as you choose precisely where to go next, but make the "remote area" as self-sufficient as feasible. Experiment I Want to See: CS2 allows players to create their own connections off the map. So far, I have not seen anyone create a suburb near the perimeter of the map. Given that it is possible to buy/sell water and power (and trash and deathcare and medical services) off the map, I am wondering if a city situated on the perimeter of a map can be flourish with only outside connections and only a highway or rail connection to the city that started the map. (Or, in this case, the TWO cities that started the map.) In fact, the true experiment/challenge would be picking a location that has NO prebuilt connections with the map and the new city therefore must rely on connections the player builds. Until someone tries it, we won't know!

I've seen two exceptions. Few Candy's second (third?) episode created a secondary community, but I believe she may have bought the tiles in between to connect to utilities. Meanwhile, the CPP video released on the same exact day as this video (7 Nov 2023) expressly sought to demonstrate this new growth tactic for for CS2. (The remote exurb, not the city built on the edge of the map.) In fact, he explains most of the ideas on my mind in the first minute of his video. I was going to wait to bring up this issue until Steven hit level 7 or 8, but CPP kind of forced the issue.

Interesting idea! I’d be curious about this too! I think the only thing that would a concern, which could easily be addressed in planning, would be that’s you’d need to create a suburb that looks like it just ends… that would be fun to do regardless!! Interesting that the idea has been tried a bit by others! I’ll take a look at their videos! Would the benefits of buying power and water out way the benefit of running it off of separately built infrastructure though? I guess that is the question in the end!

@@CitiesbySteven that is indeed the question. I should clarify I don't envision Perimeter Town remaining permanently disconnected from the internal power and water grids. But at the moment it's an open question how big a separate town can become if it is connected to neighbor cities while the rest of the map shares resources. As the road network of Perimeter Town grows towards the rest of the map, after all, they will eventually connect. But in the meantime, it strikes me as a worthy experiment for exploring the new game's functionality. As for the abrupt ending you anticipate, that can be solved with lore custom created for the occasion. Simply imagine that Perimeter Town is actually a suburb of some larger city off map. Thus it's not the suburb itself that ends abruptly. Just the the map. That imagined proximity to a larger town can justify Perimeter Town having a larger proportion of denser housing, distribution centers, jobs than a medium sized city in the middle of nowhere. Imagining (historical) lore to explain a municipality's growth pattern is, after all, one of the charms of this channel. I trust you will make Perimeter Town "logical" for the map as more than just the outcome of an an experiment.
