Being a guy from a third world country, how do I apply for lecturing positions at a university? Like I have tried applying by follwoing the "due process" and fillined those long forms in the uni career portals but they always ask oh will you require future visa sponsorship and then you click yes and that's pretty much where the system will your application right away.

Can you also shed light on the difference between industrial research and University research? And how should we approach both mentally to bring the best result?

Should I need postdoc experience to apply for lecturer position?
@DrCST3 жыл бұрын
It depends on your subject, the lecturer position and university. As a scientist I needed to show research experience - often people get that through postdocs but I worked in industry instead.

@@DrCST Thanks for your prompt reply. Can I know how easy it is to get into academics after a maternity break?
@DrCST3 жыл бұрын
In the UK some research councils / universities / funding bodies reserve funding to help support those returning to academia after a career break. Often these are fellowships. Like most academic positions they will be competitive, but are great to consider applying for. This is a good topic for a future video - thank you :)

My university colleagues are from around the world 😊 By looking at job vacancies you can see typical requirements (qualifications, experience, work visa etc) needed for the roles you are interested in.
