Thanks for the insight - I'm an educator, as well as a writer/narrative designer in tabletop and video games - will you be furthering this research? If so, where can I find links to your articles and media?

I'm glad that there are people trying to improve courses for game development seriously. I could assured that our next generations will be better than us, also now I don't need to think much about how do I transfer my experiences and knowledges to the next generations since there are someone else doing better than me.

Hey! I'm a video game journalist and I'm working on getting myself into game writing. I'm a pretty skilled writer but I don't really have much technical knowledge (tools, formats, writing structures, etc.) Do you have any writing samples to spare? I would appreciate it because I don't have any practical learning materials. Thanks!

@@jkkrugaa1785 I don't know what you mean by "writing samples to spare", but the philosophy behind my writing is to make things feel like everything is the way it is, except for special events which would become legends or myths in the future eras. I don't like the feeling of "just happen to meet" which is more common in modern eastern Asian literatures, and the "hero's journey" which became the pillar of writing. The idea behind game writing would be just write down ideas then "Compose" them later, beautiful words doesn't matter in the world of game design because they're something you'll have to show in more visual way than try to explain in words, and the dialogues would be something that you work on last unless they're crucial keywords that will help you progress the story. If you want to work on your own game writing just make sure to have good folder structure and remember to write the date and time on each files or even topics in the same file. Well they're like micromanging your own project and I'm sure you already have some kind of system that you like to work with.

Prof Hudson,... This forum is designed to attract people in the game industry and hopefully people who are interested in elements of the game industry... It would be helpful if you had an overview of what writing is in its simplest form and how it is different from game writing and provide some examples... I came away learning nothing without my interest piqued in the slightest... my apologies

I felt the same way, this felt very self-aggrandizing, the way people talk about the importance of X topic with vague gestures and empty statements..

At the end of the day, I believe that the best thing any teacher can do either at a college or university level is to teach actual techniques used in the industry. Maybe it's just me college experience, but too often teachers have no idea what they should teach to video game specialists. They often teach the basis in the most generic and unnaplicable way and that is more damaging than anything. A teacher should always try to understand what is useful for their student right off the bath, regardless of their own backgrounds.
