Thanks so much for this, Hudson! I sold my D500 and upgraded to a Z7, and didn’t know how to add the Z7 to SnapBridge. What a great help this is!

I use SnapBridge with my Z6 and I love it as well. I most often use the JPEGS but last week I tried the raw files just to see how it worked. They downloaded much slower but I could use LR mobile and I did a quick edit and posted a couple shots, but I am going back to the JPEG files. They are more than fine. Thanks for sharing this. People are reluctant to retry something that started out being a bit weak. It is a great program now and your walk through was very effective.

SnapBridge has been amazing for the past few months since I got a z7. I am amazed how well it works. I have it automatically get the jpegs and it has worked perfectly for me. Love this.

I was taking pictures of my grandson the other day and then grabbed my iPhone to look at the photos. I had left the camera in Airplane Mode which I do to prevent battery run-down! So, had to turn that off and then things were working again. Nikon used to advise to do that because even with the camera off, the BT radio is pinging every so often for a connection. Not sure if that’s still the case. Have a good time in Joshua Tree - friends of ours have a nice get away ranch out there - awesome place!

I wonder if the bluetooth connection would work on an apple tablet because only bluetooth remote is operational with apple. Data transfer is locked as far as I know at least on my IPAD PRO 10.5

Great vid once again. Would you do a video on.....1. The "Select to send/deselect ( smart device) option on the Z6? Each image has a double arrow at the top left of the screen. I believe that once the Information button is pressed ( just above the ok button) this image ( and only this image) should download. I am looking to only send one image over at a time. 2. When I transfer the photo to LR then back to SB it requires a Wifi connection again and I have to wait for it to find the camera. Let me know what you think....
@HudsonHenryPhoto4 жыл бұрын
The way to get a single image is to leave the auto mode off and just access the camera images via wifi trig the mobile devices app. I know of no other way.
@HudsonHenryPhoto4 жыл бұрын
Not sure why you'd want to go back into SB after LR. I honestly can't think of a reason.
@gregallenphoto4 жыл бұрын
@@HudsonHenryPhoto going back meaning switching between LR and SB. Ultimately would like to see a tutorial on sending single images to LR one at a time. It can be done but I haven't sorted it yet. As always your channel is to the point, informative and doesn't waste my time when I'm in a jam while on assignment.

What about wireless downloading of RAW to your phone? It worked very well on my d7200 however with the z6 continues to drop WiFi. I’ll use LR here and there.
@HudsonHenryPhoto4 жыл бұрын
Hmm, I've never seen a need for raw on my phone. The screen isn't calibrated and it's just not really what it's want to raw process on. I see it as a route to quick disposable sharing jpegs. I'll check it out though.
@chuckgmanleyphotos71974 жыл бұрын
Cesar M The 7200 using the Nikon WMU app through wifi. You can upload Jpeg and Raw pics to phone, tablet or IPad. Steps: Set up wifi on your phone, turn on camera, select nikon wifi, open Nikon app, view pics on camera, select pics, download.

Hey Hudson, how do you manage to get videos to transfer across with Snapbridge? I take it you can only get Jpegs across too?

You can transfer raw photos too, but video is just too much data. :)

@@HudsonHenryPhoto Hey Hudson, thanks for getting back so quick. Have I not got something turned on because all I can transfer is jpegs. Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

You have to go in and download raw a file at a time. :) but they're so big and cumbersome on mobile that I never do it.

You showed how you could capture GPS info from your phone to the camera's jpg image, will this also work if you are only shooting RAW? Thanks in advance for your help. Your videos are great both here and ON1.

You bet. If you're linked to snapbridge on your mobile device then every photo will have GPS data and the correct time. Thank you for the kind words.

Thank you for the video. I had given up on Snapbridge when I had my D3400. It was so flaky and frustrating that it made me want to destroy my phone. So I stopped using it. I’ll give it another try with my Z6 now.

I have enjoyed your posts over time but lately you only focus on your cameras (Nikon). We don't all shoot Nikon but photography technique is pretty much the same on all cameras. Would like to see a return to your great landscape photography composition styles and instruction. I do follow your ON1 posts and thanks for that.

Thanks for video on Snapbridge Hudson. The question I have though is if I take a Raw 24mp photo on my Z6 and it transfers to Snapbridge, will it remain intact or will i lose a bunch of data because it saves it at 2mp? I'm new to this so please excuse the newbie question.
@HudsonHenryPhoto4 жыл бұрын
I really view snapbridge as a great way to review captures and share some quick edits from the shoot. It's not your raw file import. You do that on the computer later. I don't have it import any RAW files. Just 2mp versions if I set the camera to capture raw + jpeg.
@jasoninman89124 жыл бұрын
@@HudsonHenryPhotoGot it, thank you. I think what confused me a little was watching another video by another photographer who said he uses Snapbridge to make up for not having a second card slot. Technically I guess he is right but the backup quality is not the same. Thanks again and keep making those videos...I'm learning a lot!

I must be the only person on the planet who can't figure it out. I have unloaded and reloaded the app three times, now, and my camera (z50) sees the phone and my phone says it's trying to connect to the camera, but I eventually just get a fail to connect message, every single time. So I have to call BS on how easy it is to connect them. Surely, someone else has an issue?
@robblanorman71614 жыл бұрын
and yes, i have rebooted both the phone and the camera. In fact, in my phone's settings, it says it is connected via bluetooth to the camera. But the message "Pairing Failed. If this is not the intended result, see online help." Which sounds suspiciously like, "go f yerself!" LOL!
@HudsonHenryPhoto4 жыл бұрын
What phone and what version of snapseed? Certainly a breeze with my Google pixel, pixel 3XL and all modern iPhones I've helped workshop students with. The big mistake I see people do is not reading the fine print in the app where it says to hit the OK button on the camera at the moment you describe when they see each other. I show that in the video though if you watched it following along. Sorry it's causing you problems. The early versions did suck, but in my experience there's no better camera connecting app out there now.
@robblanorman71614 жыл бұрын
Final Edit: Soooo...I had to "forget this device" a couple times, then suddenly they paired. Apparently this is the equivalent of "Is it plugged in?"...maybe this comment can inform another fool like me, in the future. Thanks Hudson.
@robblanorman71614 жыл бұрын
@@HudsonHenryPhoto Thanks for this. It's an iphone 8 and I just downloaded the app, so i assume it's the latest? I saw that on the nikon site, but also, yes, you mentioned it, but I wasn't hitting OK at the same time as the pairing. I didn't realize they had to be hit simultaneously. Still, the app doesn't specify that, so I let myself get distracted as to what to do. Still, for me, not as easy as can be. I'm over it now, and thank you for your great work. It is a neat and convenient thing to send fresh pics to the phone. No denying those sent pics are only 2 mp's though!

Well, as an update: after several days I cannot get my camera to connect to snapbridge without going through so many convolutions: reboot, re-enable, re-enter wi-fi mode, etc. Every time I try to use this feature I have to go through the whole initial setup again. For me, this is a frustrating and worthless feature.
