H - I greatly appreciate that you embraced and managed the chaos of the street to retain its life and I enjoyed listening to your thoughts during the capture and the edit explaining the bases for your adjustments to achieve your vision. One of the lessons that I've learned from you is to identify a vision for a photo from the capture, and then understanding which adjustments can be made to achieve that vision. This AST is a great example of that concept.

That was great. I've been thinking of trying ON1. I appreciate that you explain the why and not just the how.

Thanks for the video. I note you favour the short telephoto prime for street photos, which I have found to work for me too. I use a 45mm 1.8 on an Olympus EM-5 (90mm 35mm eqivalent) and like the way it avoids too many distractions round the edges, especially too much sky which can easily burn out or be too black at night. Looking forward to Photo Raw 2023 next week.

Hmmmm... I also adore 50 and 28 for street work. Depends on conditions and my mood.

Well, I'd never personally ditch Adobe. I'm very much a LR / PS guy, but ON1 is my answer to that question for sure to the question of what to use either in addition to or in leiu of Adobe.

@@HudsonHenryPhoto If you were to ditch Adobe what would happen to your raw edits? Can you still see them or do you need to export to another format?

Sorry missed that response Bob. No no, you are still able to launch the software, access, search and manage all your images as you have edited them, you just can't keep importing and using all the advanced editing tools until you reactivate.

As much as I am a fan of your work and videos, I am a little disappointed that every time you talk about Cuba you fail to mention the people there are forced to live under a murderous communist dictatorship and all your very positive comments about life in Cuba ignore the real facts of life in Cuba which only helps to prevent the change that is needed for the Cuban people to be free.

I appreciate your comment Mark. Have no doubt that I love Cuba and its people and I know the situation there is far from easy. I have a number of friends here who are Cuban immigrants and a number of friends still living there that I have made in my travels. I would very much like Cuba to progress so that the amazing people there have more personal and economic freedom. That seems less likely with less interaction with people from free countries. When I run workshops in Cuba we use the traditional "Helping the Cuban People" visa process where we stay in local residences, not hotels. We eat in people's homes and at small restaurants and meet daily with local artists and business owners to listen to the stories of their lives and the challenges they face. Many of my participants, including my own family chose to donate to help local folks we meet in the process. My strong belief is that more ties between the people of Cuba and creative, caring people from the western world will help foster support for reform and change in Cuba, both inside and outside its borders. The answer is not to further isolate the Cuban people. It is instead to reach out and form stronger bonds of friendship and connection in any way possible. To show a path to a better way by example and to offer support in any way we can. Cuba is special and it's changing fast. With or without US visitors, the streets of Havana have many people from Canada and Europe making friends and sharing resources.

I lived for three years in Rio de Janeiro back in the early 70's. I have had the pleasure to travel in many countries since then. Hudson hits it on the head with his comment. We, as individuals can do little to nothing to change a government and its policies. We can, however, greatly influence the people we meet and care for in our daily lives in these countries. Whether you are in a third world county, or one of the powerhouse countries, how you behave and interact with the citizens leaves its mark. The better you act, the better the mark. Thank you Hudson for helping so many to leave great marks.

@@HudsonHenryPhoto thanks for your thoughtful response Hudson, I also have many Cuban friends here in the US who have definitely informed my opinion on what life is like and has been like over the past 50 years in Cuba … I’m glad you have limited your support for the govt there, thanks again for your excellent photography help.

@@robwinklerphoto2189 somehow I still don't see the word responsible so you still get an F in reading comprehension and I really don't give a shit what some illiterate/ignorant snowflake says, if you want to love the thugs who run Cuba, that's your problem not mine ... goodbye, I'm done with you!
