This video is awesome! It’s quick maths, but for beams?! And explained so neatly that I feel like I could use it to explain this stuff to anyone. And I was only a mechE student that took 1 class of civil!

Thanks for the comment! Approximate analysis is really useful. A kip is a real unit, but probably only in the States. 1 kip = 1000 pounds, so I would guess the name comes from "kilo-pound". It's weird, but useful. That's just how we roll ;)
