I use four different apps. I don't pay anyone any fees. I just pick what jobs I want when things are slow........... I don't pay a penny. 👌

@@LawnCareBusinessSuccess I use lawn starter and lawnguru. LS shoves lawns down your throat I had a full day with just them. Lawn guru is more like you pick up the jobs easy to use UI

Yes i had used Home Advisors, like you said they were charging me for a crazy amounts of leads that i never got one customer from and most of the leads were out of my area . Thanks for another great video.

Ok interesting. I never looked into home Advisor. I think a lot of these types of services operate the same way though. Thanks for watching.

I subcontracted last year through a company that handled all the goods (insurance, payments, customers) and I picked the properties I wanted and built my own route. They got their cut of course, but took a lot of the hassle out of it. I just had to show up, do the work, send a picture in and get paid 2-3 days later. Hardly ever met the customers but communicated through text if there were any special requests that didn't make it on the work orders. I used them as a stepping stone to even see if I could do the work due to physical issues. Great experience and have actually thought about going back simply because all I had to do was claim jobs and work. Much less stress.

Sounds like a very unique situation that was beneficial for you. Thanks for watching.
@JustinJoyinglife5 жыл бұрын
@@LawnCareBusinessSuccess it was beneficial but nothing special. It's just like grubhub or lyft, just for lawn care. The platform itself is stellar. There's a grip of companies around most major cities that offer similar platforms. Really convenient for both consumer and business. I won't say who I worked with since I no longer deal with them, but with the way tech is going businesses like that might be big players in a few years.

Home advisor/Angie Leads works really well for me. Usually costs somewhere around $40/lead but it’s worth the long time consistent clients as well as the big projects you find out they want when you get to the property
@caseyallencooper5 жыл бұрын
I think some of these companies provide a good service. I would stay away from paying for leads, but if you are just starting out and need to fill in gaps, an app that lets you pick and choose which customers work for your situation is a meaning service. Of course they take a cut, they are doing the work of harvesting the job (app development, advertising, and delivery of the client to the vendor). It’s a legitimate and valuable business to a specific situation.

Fair enough. Thanks for watching.

Thanks for the video. We use Home Advisor for junk removal. It works OK. Pay $20 per lead and convert 1/3. So $60 per job which still leaves plenty meat on the bone to turn a profit. Do you advocate trying to do gutter cleaning and all those other services as you get larger? Or do you believe in specializing in lawn care. In the time you could clean someones gutters you could have knocked out another lawn or two. Thoughts?
@LawnCareBusinessSuccess4 жыл бұрын
I actually don’t do any gutter cleaning any more myself. My knees can’t handle ladders anymore. It was good when building my business, but now there is enough other work to pick and choose from. I also don’t mix jobs for efficiency. So for example I only mow on mowing days. Nothing else unless it’s lawn related like fertilizer. I mow tues, wed, thurs only. This leaves Monday and Friday for other work I can group together like aerating a bunch of lawn or hedge trimming for example. Also makes it easier when long weekends roll around and you don’t have to juggle the mowing if you want to spend time with family. Thanks for watching.

What really bugs me is that 1. these apps/sites are dominating the first page of google for local search, 2. they list themselves as local lawn care businesses in google maps with bogus locations. They are NOT physical lawn care businesses, they're a lead generating app and do not belong in the maps. Report them to google (edit their listings) as much as you can.
@LawnCareBusinessSuccess3 жыл бұрын
YeH that’s a pain. I know of small lawn companies that have done the same with Google my business listings by submitting multiple location addresses probably friends houses. So that they come up in all the location based searches. Thanks for watching.

@@BobbyBowker Have the two apps you mentioned help out your business? I'm looking to join one to pick up some quick work. Is it worth it? Thanks
@BobbyBowker4 жыл бұрын
CME STL SHAPIN Yes, and Lawn Starter is by far the best. I’ve tried 3 apps Lawn Buddy which I don’t believe I set up properly because the want money from you up front. GreenPal is a bidding based system and I always get underbid. You don’t really want super cheap clients anyway. Lawn Starter pays you within a week and it’s like Uber. They email and/or text you the address with a pic of the house and yard, they tell you how much it pays and you either accept or decline. 4 of the 11 yards I mowed yesterday came from Lawn Starter. It’s free to sign up but they do take a small percentage from your payout, like a tax. You can eventually negotiate with your client to circumvent LS and do business one on one if you both agree, but do so orally so that there is no paper trail. The clients just cancels service thru the system but in real life you keep moving. The company’s software is top notch, be careful if you have to reschedule because you can’t do it within 24 hours of the scheduled day. So for a Wednesday you would have to reschedule by Monday. When you get job offers accept them quickly because your competitors will gobble them up fast. Best wishes and God bless.

I'm currently on Home Advisor going on year 3 it's worked really well for me because I have a full-time job working 3rd Shift I'm able to pick the customers that I want and build my business slowly I know it's a little costly for leads but I've had some of the same customers now for three years from that one late fee working out really well for me I feel paying 17 the $28 for a weed that turns into a customer for three years is really good on return on investment

Your gonna go from no experience and not knowing how to price jobs to giving away any profit you may be luckily to make and give it to some app when your doing all the work. Starting a lawn care business is literally one of the easiest businesses to start. So easy in fact that even school kids can build a little business close to home after school. No apps needed. Focus on building a brand for yourself, leverage Google my business a website and social media and you’ll have more work than you can handle.
