Thats why we only see the top of the top of starfleet ever talking to the Captain’s. Like “Sir the President is hailing us” Or ect. When it came to picard it was just even mulified by the adventures that came with Enterprise; I mean where were limited Galaxy Class ships and even then we only remember a few of the important ones. Mostly, that is the result of limited available space for the sets during production. The only way to avoid that problem and to do justice to the franchise is to set up an entire studio dedicated to the production of Star Trek. Offscreen I'd like to think that Picard pulled some strings here as Starfleet command likely wanted to get a higher ranking officer in charge of DS9 due to its new role (vs the original one pre-wormhole) requiring a significantly higher level of responsibility. Instead, Picard insisted to keep Sisko in charge.

@hobomike69353 жыл бұрын
Most likely. the tv show makes it look like they left as soon as picard wished sisko "good luck," but in reality they likely stayed in the area for several weeks to run surveys, scans, launch some probes, and to keep the cardassians away while Starfleet command set up an official supply line to the station. Their ship has some of the best close and long-range sensor arrays in the federation so it was only natural they stay there to get some readings on a rare stable wormhole. once there's a few starships moving in and out of the station every few weeks, DS9 itself can get enough supplies and fortifications to be able to hold it's own against enemy incursions.

0:17 To be honest, I doubt the combined efforts of the Enterprise D and the 2369-era DS9 would've been able to fight off those four Galor Class Cardassian ships!!!!!!
@hobomike69353 жыл бұрын
no. Enterprise would have laid those to waste. DS9, right when Sisko took charge was a piece of crap and wouldn't have survived, but at this point in the TNG series LaForge, Worf, and Data have figured out the enterprise's strengths and weaknesses and know how to get their systems back online and keep their sh// online so they can pack a punch during battle. It took DS9 about 3 seasons to get the station cleaned up, ship-shape, and fully fortified against enemy incursions.

Can you imagine what DS9 would have been like if Sisko had decided that the whole wormhole incident was too much for him and went ahead with the transfer? I get the feeling it would not have lasted as a series. It would have been like Babylon 5 when they changed commanders, or SeaQuest when they changed Captains. Sisko was literally made to be the Emissary.

Are Picard and Sisko not in the same room? Weird camera angles.

I'll be honest. TNG is grand. Voyager and TOS are the most rewatchable. But I think DS9 is arguably the best Star Trek series.

Voyager for all its flaws was only SEQUEL to TOS.

DS9 is the worst of anything prior to Enterprise.
@TessaBain3 жыл бұрын
@Leo Polled That is actually why it's worse. Star Trek was always about exploration. DS9 is boring because it goes against that. Enterprise and on is garbage for other reasons but at least most of them don't ignore what made Star Trek, Star Trek beyond a meaningless ™. DS9 is the limited people and groups out staying their welcome for years on end. At least when the other shows interacted with the same groups over the same conflicts it was generally many episodes apart. The Borg or the Klingons are whatever series you're talking about were an ever present danger in the background but it wasn't 90% of what they thought about every episode.

Unpopular opinion: ignoring shows and what one may think of them, Sisko was actually the best captain in Star Trek history. He started with the least and built the most.

My one last request is that can you please upload Archer's escape from Klingon Transport ship/Rescue/Battle scene from "Star Trek: Enterprise" Season 2 Episode 25 "Bounty?"

Why did Picard address him as Mr Sisko?
@johnking51742 жыл бұрын
Sisko was not captain of a starship, he was in charge of Deep Space Nine, which is a space station, so he addressed him slightly differently since Sisko was not in command of a ship.

Of course in reality, there's no way they would let that station and system stay under the command of a commander. There'd be 10 admirals there in a week to run everything.
@clrobertson133 жыл бұрын
Remember, the station is Bajoran and the Federation is their at their request. They would have a lot to say about who was running their space station.
