Diese Gruppe begeistert mich heute wie damals. So grandios!

I was 17 years old, working for a photographer to cary his tools and we where there. Now after all these years I can nearly remember how it smelt in the room and the beautiful music brings back all the feeling I had at Onkel Pö hearing Pat Metheny. After the concert I even had a hand shake from him, he was so friendly, fantastic memories.

Yeah, in 1989 in the middle of a big tour, Letter From Home, in Oviedo , Spain, after the amazing out of this world concert he still attended the fans at the theater's hall, shaked hands, signed albums, posed for photos... humble and friendly. I'm not for the mythomania thing at all, but i'm still have not washed my hand since then

Really nice bass solo by Mark Egan. This band was so talented even back when they began to play together. I used to listen to their music nonstop.
@robgrant76832 жыл бұрын
Wow! Lyle plays a fantastic solo here! The whole band is great as usual. I saw this lineup perform at a small club, I think around 1978 or 1979, and then saw Pat in various groups probably another 30 times over the years. And I was lucky enough to meet Pat and Lyle twice backstage, both super nice guys. Still can’t believe that Lyle is gone.

I forgot how much I like this song until this night. Yes, I think the original PMG was the best...for obvious reasons.

Not just that - the performers are individually wildly talented and combined brilliantly. However the the music is incredible - Pat chose very good young talent to tour with him pre-covid-19 and they played some of these classic gems wonderfully. Sometimes when we like a particular sound, we just want that sound but very talented musicians like a challenge and move on from it and we don't always move with them.
@ianroberts39483 жыл бұрын
I agree , I prefer early pmg . PM moved on to Steve rodby because of the double bass ability.. then Paul wertico came . PM likes to move in various ,line ups continually .Danny and mark and lyle were the originals who stunned the fans alongside pat. Simply it was how it came across. Time goes by and the magic has faded

Loved this, and Heartland, from the earliest days, and seriously dug Mark Egan's bass long before I caught up with Jaco and realized how much of him was in this bass and then learned that Egan was a student/disciple of his. Viva Jaco!

Loves this when I first heard it at 18, am now 61. I would look at the white album cover with embossed letters, reading every description. . I thought then, what is this? Its like a Jazz Jamm going to the Max, everyone jamms their instruments to create this fantastic sounds. RIP Lyle Mays. Pat Metheny music is an acquired taste. I dont like all his work, but I love some of them, especially those w Lyle Mays.
