If only Eddie could hear this too ... He would love your rendition just like the rest of us do!

@@old-fashionedmusic6606 Yuji-san. No. I just remember very little from when I was in Japan many years ago for a business workshop in Ebina. After the workshop, I went to Fuji-kyu Highland, and climbed Mt. Fuji. Beautiful country. I was a drummer in two (rock) bands, but always loved the sound and tones of guitars -both nylon (classical), and electric (archtops). I have one of each, and your videos (and with Hirofumi-san) are very nicely done. You both should make a CD, and get Yano-san to join.

My Grandfather, born in 1909 used to play April Kisses and taught it to me. It's possible that he met Eddie Lang. Grandad played banjo in Harold Arlen's band for a while as did Joe Venuti (violin) JV played a lot w/ Eddie Lang. I was touched ny the authenticity that you bring to this song. Thank you.
@old-fashionedmusic6606 Жыл бұрын
Thank you very much. I believe there are too many good stories buried like your grandfather’s to be heard to next generation. It is nearly impossible to know early jazz history in my country unless I read jazz history books written in English. Eddie Lang and Joe Venuti are my heros which are almost forgotten in today’s world. But without them, Jazz history can be diffenet. I respect them deeply and want to keep them alive for today’s world. 😊
