Saaaaame. I was like “maybe it just came out longer ago than I thought and I just didn’t realize it was as old as it is” nope, definitely came out in ‘99. That’s what we’re calling classic now? 👵🏻

Perks of Being A Wallflower was a five star read for me, but I understand that it’s not for everyone/doesn’t connect to everyone and that’s okay! I thought the simplicity of his perspective and representation of depression from someone trying so hard to see the brighter side of something truly resonated with me, but I know some people don’t get it or like this style-I’m glad you gave it a try!

Same here!! As someone who has struggled with depression, social anxiety, and childhood trauma it matched my experience of high school so well 😭 I also loved Charlie’s teacher bc I was a lot like Charlie, I did pretty well in school but was quiet about it and connected with teachers when they appreciated my effort.

You need to finish Mad Honey, you will regret if you don’t!!! It explores so much more than crime, it explore complex contemporary issues and has amazing character development🤍 it was thought provoking while also being emotional. Once you make it to the half way point, where the plot twist happens, it will be so worth it.

Fredrik Backman is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors. I'm reading the standalone first so I have not gotten to Beartown yet, but I'm looking foward to it. I read "And Every Morning The Way Home Gets Longer And Longer" first. It was insanely good. It's pretty short as well, I'd give it a go. The writing is beautiful and the story itself was as well.
