Your voice over, with the slow pan of the book's front cover gives me Reading Rainbow vibes!! 🤩🥹

Oh, that was such a good show! I didn't even think about that, but thank you!

Again I’m so enjoying how broadly genre-wise you read! 😅♥️ I got bogged down in Moby Dick, too! I’m reading the second half with some friends this summer! 😂

Thank you! There is a lot of information in Moby-Dick, and it is really easy to get bogged down by it, but I hope you enjoy it more this summer. Especially since you'll be reading with friends!

I read Moby aloud with my kids in school and we all loved it. We even chose to do some whale & whaling studies during it😂

That sounds like a lot of fun! I don't know if we'll do Moby-Dick for homeschool in the later years or not--too early to tell right now--but I think it could be a really good one.

I really enjoyed Jill’s book too. I did watch the some of the show many years ago. My favorite April read was The Women by Kristin Hannah.

I really need to get to The Women soon. I've loved so many of her books over the years!

Yes, Fullmetal Alchemist is such a good series! (At least what I've read of it so far 😅) I'm glad you enjoy it too!

Ella Enchanted is one of my favorite books, but I read it a lot as a teenager. My favorite books in April were Kingdom of Ruins by D C Marino (portal fantasy with a bit of archeology) and The Lizard Garden by Anne E Phillips (a great book with homeschooled kids as the main characters).
@Coffee_and_a_Book6 ай бұрын
Ooh, you piqued my interest with fantasy and archeology. I'll have to look more into both of those books, they sound really good! That's always the hard part about reading children's and middle grade books as an adult rather than in the younger years, the nostalgia and former love of the book aren't there already and you're also not in the mindset of a child or teenager anymore 😔 There are several books I wish I could go back and read for the first time as a child.

@Coffee_and_a_Book I missed out on some great classics as a kid: Narnia, Enchanted Forest Chronicles, and The Chronicles of Prydain to name a few. I didn't read these until my adult years. Oh, you're not missing much by skipping Fairest and Ogre Enchanted. I read those as an adult, and they don't seem nearly as good as Ella Enchanted.
@Coffee_and_a_Book6 ай бұрын
@@AshleasBookshelf That's good to know! 😄 I feel like I missed out on several too (and some that you named I haven't even read as an adult yet 😬)

I think with the “narrative” of the Lost Queen I just assumed it was Languoreth looking back on her life telling the story in the moment rather than the past tense. 😬 of course we already chatted about the fact that it has the sex scene I have no recollection of 😬😳
@Coffee_and_a_Book6 ай бұрын
The same thing happened to me with a book my brother read recently 😬 I think sometimes I just block them out and don't remember them at all later. Your idea about the writing style would make sense, though, for me, it was still odd at times when the narrative would be rational and then Langoreth would fly off the handle at someone. I guess I mostly would have preferred if the narrative gave a bit more warning about how she was actually going to respond in certain situations🤷♀️

❤ i like that you give content warnings....i skip or dnf books with sex scenes so i like to have a heads up on those
@Coffee_and_a_Book6 ай бұрын
Thank you! I always thought: we have content warnings for movies and video games (and music, to an extent), but we don't for books, so it would be nice if more people included that.
