Yes! The Ember Blade was so good. I also didn’t connect with A Touch if Light and won’t be continuing the series. I wanted to love it like everyone else!

Yeah something about it just didn’t work for me 😞 but glad the ember blade was so good! ❤️

WOWOWOW, I knew you loved RotE but I wasn't expecting you to say it might have bumped TLT off your no. 1 spot. I mean, I can't argue with you there, but still surprising!! The final book was perfection and every time I hear someone talk about it I want to drop everything and start re-reading lol. Anywayyy, I just started A Feast for Crows on audio and I totally agree that the narration isn't nearly as bad as everyone makes it out to be. It's actually weirdly comfy and cosy to listen to, hahah. Also, yay for The Ember Blade! I hope that the second book will be just as good for you! Happy reading 🥰

Thanks Esmay!! It’s so hard to compare TLT and RotE because they’re basically as different as can be 😂😂

I’m always impressed by how much you can read in a month! I finally read Legends and Lattes in April and absolutely loved it! So wholesome 🥹

Ahhhhh so good. I need to reread it soon.

Woohoo!! So glad you loved The Ember Blade! :D And hey, Jujutsu Kaisen is great. The manga supposedly will come to an end this year. So you're on time!

I hadn’t heard about Weyward! That cover! 😍😍😍 “If you exist as a human you know about The Lord of the Rings” 😂 I really need to read The Ember Blade ❤

I agree with all you said about A Touch of Light. It just didn't land well with me even though i wanted to love it. It was my least favorite read of April. My favorite read of April was the Empire of Gold from the Daevebad trilogy. I plan to read the Ember Blade sometime this year, and I'm glad to hear you enjoyed it. I'd love to hear more in-depth thoughts from you about it as well as the other books you've read. Thanks, Jordan!

You read so many good books! I have had The Ember Blade on my TBR for ages, but your review has me convinced I need to bump it up! I haven’t had any fantasy favourites lately, but I loved Happy Place by Emily Henry in April. I’m currently making my way through Rain Wilds and I can’t wait to get to Fitz and the Fool. I’m sure I’ll have some new fantasy favourites then

I have Happy Place on hold! Super pumped for it. I am so excited to hear your thoughts on FatF!

This really makes me want to put Realm of the Elderlings higher on my TBR. I read the Liveship traders last year (loved it) and read Assassins Apprentice a month or so ago but it didn't stand out that much to me so I didn't make it a priority. Maybe I'll have to change that???

Farseer is really good, but it’s not nearly as good (imo) as the rest of the series. So I recommend persevering!

I bought the Unbroken when it came out but never got to it. Yo RotE might have moved passed Locked Tomb??? Wow. I need to read The Ember Blade soon 😩
@jordanreads Жыл бұрын
The Unbroken is good! Not a new favorite, but entertaining. I have to think about RotE and TLT. it’s really hard because they’re like, as different as can be lol. They’re so hard to compare. You’ll love the ember blade I think.

Is the rest of RotE worth reading if I was mix to negative on Assassin's Quest? I've heard conflicting things on the rest of the Fitz books, some say they're more like Assassin's Apprentice and Royal Assassin (if so I'll happily continue) and others say they're more like Quest. I don't think there's a book I look forward to reading more than A Storm of Swords. I think I was 18 or 19 when I read and I'm 26 now so definitely overdo for a re-read 😅 In April I read: *Fantasy* Greatcoats 3: Saint's Blood Greatcoats 4: Tyrant's Throne - Fantastic conclusion to the series. I still don't see where the First Law comparisons are coming from. Just great swashbuckling fun with an amazing trio at the centre. The Slow Regard of Silent Things / Patrick Rothfuss - It was fine. I like Auri as a character but I don't think this needed to be a novella. Maybe a short story. Normally I'll take a novella over a short story any day. *Sci-Fi* Red Rising / Pierce Brown (re-read) - I seemed to like this book better than most on 1st read and its even better the 2nd time. A few weeks ago I put a pause on my Malazan Book of the Fallen re-read and I think I went in a bit too soon to start a re-read (I'm loving it, I just wasn't prioritising it and it kept getting more lost in the shuffle) so I think I'm going to get caught up on the rest of the Malazan universe first after listening to a recent Erikson interview that has me impatient to start Kharkanas and Witness. As well as continue in Esslemont's books.

I would definitely recommend trying out Liveship Traders. It’s very very different from the first series. I’m really excited to get to Greatcloaks! I’m excited to hear your thoughts on the other Malazan books! I’ve heard good things about them.
@thatsci-firogue Жыл бұрын
@@jordanreads 1000% plan on restarting Liveship Traders (I just got distracted with other things) but have 0 clue when. Would you say if I loved the majority of Farseer I'll be fine with Tawny Man? I should warn you, there's a part of the first Greatcoats book that is really really weird. It's only in that book and the rest of the series is significantly better than book 1.
@jordanreads Жыл бұрын
@@thatsci-firogue there’s a big time jump between Farseer and Tawny Man. So Fitz is older and more mature. I think the vibe of the two is very different.
