FOR EVERYBODY WONDERING: I am currently at Lowe’s: mirrored glass is currently only sold in 2 sizes.... $13.98 for 24in by 30in & $18.48 for 30 in by 36in. And that’s per sheet. I needed 6 sheets of 24 by 30 for both nightstands and my total was $85

I made mine using two Ikea Malm 6 drawer dressers that I got used from Craigslist. One cost $30, the other was free. Would have paid about $2,000 for one mirror dresser had I purchased them from store. Used two 30X36 mirrors ($17.98 each). Covered top and 6 drawers. If you're not sure of measurements. Take drawer to Lowes. Make sure to take your scrap mirror after they cut big mirrors. I ordered some very high quality glass knobs from a website call "AliExpress", shipped directly from China (10 days, under $28 including shipping, for 20 knobs). I would have paid about $65+ for them from store. I secured sagging drawers with L brackets on INSIDE and cheap Home Depot yard sticks (98 cents each) on the UNDERSIDE of drawers. I used glue I had and put some on yard sticks before screwing together. Use short screws so that the drawers will close properly. There are videos online to show how to fix saggy drawers. This way works extremely well. Also, a very helpful tip I got from glass cutter in Lowes. PLEASE use a piece of sanding paper (any grit) for sharp edges!! They gave me a piece for free. The mirror is so sharp and dangerous. It will not scratch the mirror and works well with barely any effort.

These look amazing! I love how simple you kept the DIY too. One thing i'd like to do different if I was making one, is to add cut mirror pieces and mosaic over the larger areas that were spray painted. I feel like the silver paint didn't really look as good as i'd hoped.
@UrbanLateNights
@UrbanLateNights 8 жыл бұрын
+tilywinn - For a more precise look with the spray paint, it would take about 2 -4 coats of spray paint depending on the brand and finish. There are great tutorials on KZbin regarding spray painting furniture and getting a perfect look. Another alternative to spray paint would be finding a really good sliver paint color and finish to preform the same look. It just depends what you want to achieve. Hopefully, this helps!

I recently did this DIY. & damn its beautiful! It cost me nearly $300 for two. You can definitely make yours cheaper. I wanted them extra perfect so i bought more spray paint and mirror glue. Also i bought my mirror at lowes and that cost me $75 because they used 5 mirror sheets, but from the 5th piece there was extra left and i made it into my vanity mirror (its big too!) . Theres only two cons to this project, lowes doesnt smooth the mirror edges (i cut myself once) & 2nd the drawers dont have stoppers so if you open them to much, the weight of the mirror will make the drawer come out and that will for sure break the mirror! So be careful

For the mirrors she used, go to Lowes.com and search 99768, it'll bring up the exact mirrors. It is the product number on the brown paper she opened. Be aware that the mirrors have sharp edges. If they are left with raw edges like this, there is a possibility of getting cut, as I have found out from making them myself. They are beautiful and I love them so I am tyring to come up with ideas to fix/cover the edges : )

I didn’t give a thumbs down but I know one such reason is possibly finding out that Lowe’s doesn’t cut mirrors although you purchased them solely for that purpose. Then didn’t want to give my money back without getting a manager involved. This was a waste of my total day! However, it wasn’t necessarily the fault of the person that produced this video. Her experience was different. It’s probably because she’s cute. 🙄😃

Nice job! Best tell your viewers, however, to attach these these babies to the wall with the safety straps IKEA provides cuz they're very narrow, front to back they tip over really easily, especially on a carpeted floor and when the drawers are pulled out. I used 3 together like a console and attached them together (lifted about 14" above the floor) to the wall on one side of room. Used toggle bolts and small L braces on back edges. Went with the pine look and clear varnished them and attached leather strips for handles.

sorry for the delay. get a sanding block at the hardware store.. 5 gride .....hold at a 54 degree angle and slide it back and forth..feel it you can tell the difference in the smoothness... If you have already glue it on to your surface wood.. it will still smooth it...just becareful not to sand off your paint on the dress, ect.

@@yuma00011 this does, thanks! I have a wooden dresser I tried to put knobs on with E6000 and the knobs first of all of the time, it’s so annoying. I was skeptical as to how they’d hold up on glass so thanks.
