Not sure about the Aprilia but as a Triumph owner I can say that reliability is an issue; stupid things but they can be annoying.

I went and tested both bikes one by one and I can see more :) I choose Street triple despite its advantages and disadvantages :) a plus: - quality of workmanship (the blinker of the lights does not irritate :)) - engine flexibility -multimedia - bluetooth module, screen navigation, etc. -pleasant sound of 3 cylinders is something addictive when unscrewing -Better working quickshifter -has a storage compartment in the rear with USB - it is comfortable and I feel comfortable on it, I feel that I understand it :) -larger fuel tank compared to the competition Minuses : - blows;) - a bit worse with luggage - no cruise control RS660 Benefits : - Appearance, - sporty character - cruise control - a place for a trunk -multimedia (after purchasing the module) Defects: - Too sporty position (after a long trip, wrists and loins may hurt) - disturbing fuel tank during stronger maneuvers - jerking quickshifter - too high for my girlfriend and does not reach the ground with my feet (the position is higher than my tracer 700) - the original exhaust sounds as it sounds, but it looks nice, unfortunately there is no accessory that would look so nice and fit at the bottom - in my opinion a bit of pixelosis is ok, but smoother ones would be nicer to the eye. This is my opinion and no one has to agree with it :) And let everyone ride himself and judge at his own discretion. :) And thanks!

Just bought the Matte Black RS and was looking at the Aprilla. I had a 2009 Daytona after having an R6 and a HD Nightrod Special. The engines in Triumphs I don't think can be beat for street and road. The R6 was great top end, HD great in the low but obviously only a straight a way bike which takes half the fun out of riding. The mid and low power is unreal on these triples and the powerband is incredibly smooth and wide. I can't think of a more perfect bike for someone like me who mainly commutes and joyrides more than anything. I didn't buy an RS for the TFT, but its definitely nice to have. The 660, as a multiple year rider, just didn't have enough guts to convince me. I think it would be a great beginner bike though if you have the scratch. Great video, thanks!

The title is accurate. One of them is kind of a waste of money but just because I won’t obviously say which one.. doesn’t make it click bait. Do your research and compare. PS: I have to be careful what I say. As a reviewer, I have to remain unbiased/neutral but also speak facts so it is up to the viewer to decide what’s best or worse.. therefore, the title / image may speak the truth but again, up to the viewer to figure it out. 👍

@@PetroHead If you'r not racing your Streety RS. But want the Triumph, take the R instead, I would say. 2K "wasted" money on the Öhlins and the very bad readable display. I've just riden bouth. And as much as i like the triple engine and the paint quality, I like the RS660 more overall. More wind protection, much better electronics, for a sportsbike I found the seating position comfortable, not much worse than on the Streety but much better than let's say a R6. I'm 1,71m. And a well set suspension, even though it's not Öhlins. But that shows once again. It doesn't always have to be the big brands. A well set Kayaba for casual riding can do the job just as good. And in these two cases I found the standart setting on the Aprilia even a little better. But it's obviouse that with propper settings the Showa/Öhlins combination will be better.

Just for the looks, the RS660. It’s gorgeous. But the street triple RS, it seems as much fun as the aprillia but more easygoing, more accessible maybe. Both of them have plenty power. To me it would be very difficult. Grtz 🇳🇱

Idk if a 6-axis imu is as important on a smaller displacement motorcycle, but I am sure it was helping save my bacon on the track on my R1. I could feel quite a bit of squirm full lean on the pilot power 5's I was running.

The lack of cruise control is a big one for a street bike. It's going to be very hard to go back to a street bike without CC. Triumph should have made it optional. Hell, the Bonneville has it. Their most popular bike should as well. Also the looks. I'm one of those people who hate the headlight design. I couldn't buy the RS though. Too much of a sporty position for my back. But Aprillia does make a "naked" version, and I'm looking at that.

Is it accurate that the rs660 has more torque down low ?

Down low it's similar. The RS660 comes at around 4k but since the Steety has "mo powa" overall it's similar. Obviously the streety than has the better top end. He didn't mentioned the screen though. I hate the screen on the streety.

I had a similar experience. I own an older 2009 Street Triple. That first highway ride was actually pretty nerve wrecking. Took a while, now I have enough experience to help my friends who are starting off. Company on the freeway for that first ride would have been comforting.

The inexplicable engine shut down (at 7:45) has happened twice with my 2020 STR. I’ve put about 7,800km (4,875 mi) since I got it Dec 2020. Hasn’t happened recently, though. Hope it doesn’t recur.

Great video love the content 😄👍so my conclusion is that I need a garage and to buy both 😂 ow and apparently the Yamaha R7 - replacement for the R6 is being released on the 18th may so may be may another great cheaper better built alternative to the RS660 🤔 unfortunately a twin not an inline 4 but still kinda cool

My previous bike was street triple R 2016. Now I own RS660. RS660 way way better than 2016 triple. Ok sure triple RS 2021 is a very nice bike, but dashboard is huge disappointing. I bought RS660 for 10900 euros, and Triumph was asking for RS 12700 euros without extras. WTF 12700. With rs660 you can do knee on your first bike easily. RS660 much more comfortable than street R

Comment section I'd like some advice based on quality and spec which would you choose Triumph street triple 765 RS, Triumph speed triple 1050 R or a bmw s1000r gen 1 or 2. Second hand these are all in the same price range. Can pick up all for about £7000 (GBP)

Super sport is nice.. I would choose it over the RS660 but not over Striple.

RS 660 isn't aggressive at all like the mentioned true supersports. They're not even real clip ons. More similar to a Ducati Supersport in terms of ergos. Rest I agree with, and that's from an str owner as well.

Totally different bikes. I own the triumph street RS and it’s a very precise bike. Great handeling. Smooth throttle and gearbox. Front wheel tends to stay planted. The MT09 is a handful, very aggressive, wants to throw you off, also handles really well, but hitting throttle midcorner is extremely risky and violent. If you want to go hard all the time, mt09. If you also want to cruise and have a “normal” bike below 9k rpm it’s the triumph all the way. It behaves very nicely under 8 to 9k rpm and has a fantastic top-end rush above that.

The RS is a waste of money! Many who own this bike have had many issues regarding the engine and electronics. My friend is having a terrible time with his bike, engine lights, stalling, not starting, dealing with the dealership and now excessive vibration ..... His is now looking for a lemon law lawyer.

11,000km on my RS660 as a second bike my first one is a MT09 and I haven't had any issue with my Aprilia so far. I heard terrible stories, I'm not one of them 😅. You’ve got to be on point with your maintenance though and many aren't honest enough to admit they don't take their bike in for repairs or when they should.
