I am super happy to announce the 4th Radio giveaway here on the channel!
You can get one here: amzn.to/4cqC1my
The kind folks over a APROTII reached out to me and asked if I'd like to review a transmitter for them. I checked it out and decided I liked it enough to buy a second one. That means we will be giving away 2 of these over the next few months.
This unit is packed with modern features. Adjustable power out from .75 watts up to 15 Watts! It has a usb input for people that want to broadcast with out any hassle. Simply pack a USB full of music, sermons, old radio shows, or whatever you like and plug it in. Totally automated!.
If you'd like to use it for church, it has a line in for a mixer board, or a mic input for direct broadcasting. The included antenna can be used right from the back of the unit, or can attach to the also included mag mount and can be remotely located to get a better signal. Best of all this powerful 15 Watt transmitter is FCC-approved! FCC ID:2AQIX-T15B
So, I want to give this away to one of you! I'll do so on Saturday February 13th during a live show here on the channel.
To enter, Simply leave a detailed comment as to why you think you should be the winner. I'd love to know what great ideas you have for turning this thing into a way to keep your community informed. I'll take the top 25 comments, print those names and my wife will draw a winner from our "Official" Farpoint farms mug.
Thanks to all of you, and thanks to APROTII for sending me this first unit to review. If you can't wait to get a station of your own, please feel free to follow this link to get one today:

I had to retire as a radio DJ 5 years ago after being diagnosed with Parkinson’s. I tried to continue but just wasn’t able. Being on disability I really can’t afford much equipment. I would love to give back to my little community by using this unit to give community news, inspirational readings, good news (for a change) etc. Thank you for giving me hope to do so.

Community radio! The big boys haven't a clue. Customizing for the listeners keeps listeners. I have mine computer controlled with some home-made outboard controllers. I can send a tone at to trigger NOAA weather radio alerts, it rebroadcast the Farmer's Report, so the farmers can get up later and listen in their tractors, the music is varied to my community by genre and hours and traffic detours for collisions on the local interstate and road conditions. Daytime 4am on is older (pre 1980s) Country, Bluegrass, a taste of Gospel (and I'm Jewish!) and middle of the road, mature music (Perry Como, Dean Martin, Rosemary Clooney, Ella's Fitzgerald (and yes, even Montovani and Burt Kaempfert). They eat it up! I get requests in my mailbox, too! After 7 it's 1950s-early to mid 60s. Blends into clasic rock from the 1970s-early 80s around 11. Good luck in your endeavors. BTW: I serve small rural midwest villages of around 2100~2200 people within range.

We live in a national forest in the Ozarks. The closest radio station is 60 miles away and reception is scratchy at best. Cell service is VERY undependable. This area is populated by 5-20 acre homesteads and a dependable information outlet would be a godsend. With current times, unified communications could save lives.

I absolutely cannot wait to watch this comment section blow up with all the "Safety Sallys" who tell you how illegal (US) this transmitter is. I need to get some popcorn and check back in a few days. Awesome overview, Erik! You are super generous for giving this transmitter away. Peace.

The answer is two fold. Run the transmitter with a 1 kHz tone (preferably from the source you are feeding) until you hear distortion. Back down level control one dot or notch (product cosmetics may slightly differ). With a police scanner (portable preferred) scan from the lowest band to the highest. Check for any frequencies affected, called "birdies". See how far they go. If they don't go outside your property, you're alright. The frequency you chose makes a huge difference for these two reasons. Interference to others and any spurious frequencies generated (especially if you go past the 0dB point, aforementioned, you made. This is "reference point" and a good starting point. Using any frequency above 97.3 can generate a harmonic in the "aircraft" band (97.3 + 10.7 = 108 MHz). This is due to the IF frequency of FM receivers use and added harmonics to your frequency. They are too be seriously avoided! 87.7 and 87.9 are outside the range of (almost) of all licensed FM stations. Most newer radios can go this low on the band. 87.7 is preferred if a station is licensed in your area on 88.1. 87.9 if a local station is using 88.3. This extra safeguard definitely helps keep interference from intruding on another station. Remember, you may not be part 15, and not (cough, cough) condoning anyone's actions, be true broadcasters don't I fringe on any other station. Especially if you want to be as invisible as the ether you modulate, wink, wink to "la federales".

This would be awesome for my community in rural Alaska. No FM stations can be heard across the band here, and only one AM station, so this would be very useful. Great for news and events, and lots of music. Thanks for showing.

I would love to have something like this! I’m a retired truck driver of 40+ years and just recently became disabled. (not due to driving) Don’t get out of the house much anymore except to a doctors office from time to time so, to pass my time I was looking to get back in to CB radio’s. And a nice little FM transmitter would be so perfect as well. I would love to have a unit like that in the little town I live in for out going info and music. If for any other reason then to feel active in town events. If you read this all the way through, thanks. Sin; Mr Michael Hamilton. PS; Thanks again and love your videos 👍🏻🎙

I'm a Desert Storm first infantry combat vet who is stuck at home unable to work due to service related emphysema. I was a combat engineer and after the conflict I blew up the Khamasyia Demolition complex and was exposed to sarin/ syclosarin. I have had a rough year with covid lockdown and the protests. I just want to travel to the National Parks and be decent to people. But have been stuck at home and often bed ridden. I don't have the means to purchase something like this for myself. When I was young I used to listen to the world on a military short wave all night long. I currently have my Cobra 29 LX working in my truck. But rarely get to go anywhere. I don't watch TV because I can't buy anything on the commercials. I listen to music and radio. But I love your videos. Very informative. Please consider me as a possibility. Thank You, Jon Pickett. I am disabled due to low vision and I live alone. My 10-meter am/FM transceiver is on the fritz. It comes and goes as it warms up and finally it just quits. I've had it since before I lost so much vision that I was forced to file for SSD and now I can't afford to replace it. Of course, I've already got the other necessary components for a system. I live alone out in the boonies and I rely in part on my radio to pass the time and communicate with the outside world. If you find someone more deserving, by all means, please disregard my comment and reward them. I always find a way to scrape by but I couldn't resist going for this little jewel. Regardless, I'm glad I stumbled onto your channel about 6 months back. You see, I was a Ford senior master tech and worked at Ford dealers for 22 years before becoming disabled. I really like your videos on "muhcanic" things. LOL I'm not going anywhere, I found a great channel from someone with whose interest I align. Regards, 73

I live blocks away from downtown of my city. There's always events going on. However the small local paper delivery system isn't the best. Usually tossed in the driveway, only to be destroyed by rain or snow. What better way to get the word out? Radio my friend! That way the ppl can still be informed, even if their newspaper was unreadable. Several complaints later, the paper delivery system has not been fixed. Have a great day!

I recently installed a CB in my Jeep and discovered your channel when I was looking up how to stuff with CB's and antenna installations. Since then you have introduced me to tons of cool stuff and I never really knew much about. My friend and I bought Beofang 5w handhelds to communicate. We discovered that reception was hit or miss and we built our own antennas from ideas from your videos including a ground plane and they worked great!! We are wanting to expand our knowledge and equipment. We are also apart of a local preparedness group that coordinates to help local search and rescue etc. A radio like this would really help us learn and be more apart of our group!! I hope you pick me but if not I love your videos and I find all kinds of very helpful and useful information. Thanks Eric!

That thing would be great for me. I live out in the country and can't pull in any good stations when I'm out in the shop. It's about 500 feet from the house. I don't bring a computer out there because of the dust. So with a transmitter like that, I could broadcast my music or whatever, and just have a radio in the shop. A buddy of mine lives about a mile away from me. Maybe he could benefit from it too. Great channel, Sir. Lots of good info. Love it! Thank you for what you do.

I want to set up a part 15 station, there are a lot of elderly families and farmers in the area. It would be nice to broadcast to the people in my area on events and play Old-time music that really isn't played in the area. Most of these elderly folks don't know how to work a tablet or Sirius Radio, it would be nice to have them reminisce about the old days. Also kind of an early warning system as well because we can't even hear the sirens from town. Anyways great Channel great information wonderful lifestyle thank you for turning me on to community radio

Being the chief of a local volunteer fire department, we would like to use this as a public notification tool. In the event severe weather, road closures, highway or railroad incidents, or hopefully, after this virus subsides public events. Our area has several miles of I-75 that frequently has traffic blockages due to accidents. A small transmitter such as this could be used to relay detour info to travelers who are unfamiliar with the area.

My husband made me watch your video, and while a radio broadcast really doesn't interest me, he was so excited about it! From the time he was a pre-teenager, he has always wanted to run a radio station -- he even took a tour of Brown in Minnesota to see about going to radio school :) While we've been locked at home during the coronavirus, I've been busy making quilts. My husband is so supportive. He even rigged up a lift from the ceiling for me so that I could hoist my quilts around while working on the sewing machine. I wanted to ask if you would enter him in your giveaway. I suppose this is a bit of a pity-request, to give him something to do while under lockdown, but I appreciate so much your giving him videos to enjoy. Thank you!

I'm also a lover of all things Radio. Ham-KI5CSQ, CB- 155 SnareDrum. But also I'm a Bible Teacher in Southwest Oklahoma. In the City Lawton, we have done what I think is an unprecedented thing. My Messianic Jewish Fellowship (Beit Tefillah) has teamed up with a local Christian Congregation (The Impact Center). We have recently acquired an old Elementary School which we are turning into, "The Impact Community Center", located in a not so savory part of town. We have a great many community outreach programs planned such as but not limited to: After-School Tutoring, Adult education and resume writing assistance, Food distribution, and most importantly Spiritual growth, ministering and counseling. Everyone is welcome. In the fall, we plan to celebrate the Feast of Tabernacles (Sukkot) together with the members of the Impact Center Church and the community surrounding the Community Center. We would love to use the Radio Station at the Community Center to broadcast information, encouragement, teaching along with praise and worship music. I do hope you will consider this very unique partnership. That station will be dedicated to good things only. Thanks in advance. Blessings - jd

SO cool! Back in the 80's the CBS Radio Mystery theater would play at about 9 pm on the local am radio station. It would be so cool to do that with ones own pirate station... . might get a following who knows! :)

This would be a fantastic setup to keep the RV community in tune with current events while at various campsite around the Country while iam out n about traveling 8 mos out of the year. I currently have a fairly comprehensive weather station set up, and scanner in my class A diesel pusher, I've been to every State in our Union (lower 48) and have seen almost everything Mother nature has to offer us except for two, (hurricane and tornado thank God) but have seen the onset. Within the RV traveling community there are A LOT or semi retired and fully retired seniors to look after, and yes, the traveling community is massive and even though many of us don't know one another, we stick together like a neighborhood, many of us travel in caravan's, so I feel on top of having a scanner, weather station, CB and Ham equipment on board A traveling FM broadcast station would be a friggen awesome addition to the Rig for keeping all informed while on the road, heck I can have a small sign made up giving station details, so while on the highway's and byways of our Nation, fellow travelers can tune in while we drive. You would be surprised on how much dead frequency space is available, not being able to hear a dang thing for hours when in the middle of nowhere trying to get info from FM stations from a far except for NOAA (national oceanic Atmospheric Association) weather would be a keen idea in keeping Us RV's, Truckers and Family vacationers alike safe and in the know while on the road, also we have RV potlucks, rummage sales, campfire gatherings and from time to time an RV traveling chaplin for Sunday sermon's at camp when we're at a location for a month or two. Now, with that being said, I have to go back and watch your video, I was too busy typing while it was playing. Take care Erik, and thank you for offering this FM broadcasting station to your viewers, events like this definitely builds a stronger community in the KZbin setting.!!! 🇺🇸✌️👍

Far Out! I live at the edge of a small town in PA next to the Allegheny Forest. Our yard ends where the woods begin. We are on a high hill. If I win this xmtr, I could broadcast to both the town and the woods. Any bear, deer, elk, foxes, bobcats, etc. with either chip implants or transistor portables would benefit. As well, of course, as the local humans.

What a good video. I've wanted to own a "Real" radio station since I was a teenager. I used to go to the local AM/FM when I was 13 years old and sit with the DJ and watch him spin records. (that was like 1973). Along with that I always was learning about "pirate radio". I wanted to buy a Panaxis Kit (Do you remember them). Life was just too busy or money was tight or whatever. Since watching your channel, I've had this interest re-ignited. It's easier now than ever before with this Aprotii unit. This would make my life complete and give me a reason to actually get up in the morning. Ok maybe I went a little too far with that. Anyway, I would really enjoy using this if I were the lucky choice. Thanks for your attention and Goooood Day! (Paul Harvey imitation)

15+ years of professional on-air radio experience from rock, pop, classic RnB and country to news to production, so I know what it takes to run a station right... old school. Been in show business for 40+ years, growing up in the family business, so I know what it takes to entertain. Currently living in a small but active MidWestern community (wife's hometown) that's just the right size in reach for a Part 15 station. I love broadcasting a station as a somewhat self indulgent hobby on line, but the opportunity to do it right, for the community alone, without the need for canned corporate programming or political narrative sounds almost too good to be true today. I can tell you this, I would make good use of it. Our church here apparently already has a deal on the air and on cable TV, but they have some great events all throughout the year, parades and such. Plus the school may one day want to teach a broadcasting course and to have a community station, with a licensed FCC Restricted Radiotelephone Operator with a degree in broadcasting running it already, a part 15 station may be an asset in education, you never know...The possibilities are endless. I could go on about what could be and indulge in further shameless self promotion. Just know I would use it and use it well.

I will say being a Ham and also now into GMRS as well and having moved to a smaller rural community it would be very good to set it up and provide a local/ neighborhood station with information and maybe some talk radio platform.I think it should be given to a person that not only would put it to good use but maybe do to financial reasons cannot afford to purchase it. .Good luck to everyone that entered and thank you Eric."

Stereo is all nice and i like it! But has drawbacks especially on low power FM transmitters. The bloody FCC did not select the best FM stereo system back in its day when there was another better system available that was more robust on reception conditions. Stereo decoding circuits adds more noise, theres alot more carrier waves in its signal that also adds much more harmonics ect.The mono signal is cleaner, very noticeable on weaker reception than the stereo signal. switching it to mono cleans up alot of that junk. Also stereo needs more bandwidth and suffer more on multipath ,reflections on buildings and mountings, has more interference on adjacent stations and alot more things. What i like about this transmitter, (that i do own) is that it does have the option to set it to mono (and mixes both channels!) making reception far superior to transmitting in stereo. There is nothing more annoying when your receiver (especially in cars) is changing back and forth from noisy weaker stereo reception to a much stronger less noise mono signal. If you have low power, and live in built up areas or in mountainous regions! Mono is the way to go.But Stereo is nice!

We need help in Asheville/Trashville because we are not sure we can hold back the riots. Yes, riots tore down AVL & even took coffin filled with cow dunk to front doors of police station. While this maybe strange, it’s true - KZbin Asheville riots. If communications go down this will be used to update important info. Other times just play good mountain music, research Asheville - locals in trouble. That’s my long 2cents worth. Enjoy your videos!!

Hey Eric, I'd like to win the part 15 transmitter so I would have something to connect my Comet 5/8 wave ground plane broadcast antenna to 88.5-108 FM. Then I could use the coax, FM QRP watt meter , mixing board, audio limiter, CD player, computer and Heil PR40 mic to keep my little Mountain Community informed of what's going on and maybe play some different styles of music ! 73, Heath N4TWT P.S. Yes, I know it won't be part 15 with the gain and height of the antenna

Your video was very informative, but it would be nice if you can go into a bit more detail on set up. How to select between the LO (6 watt) mode and the HI (15 watt) mode would be most helpful. Also the finer aspects of using the control menu, as the instructions are somewhat limited, and can be confusing to newcomers. I have been using the lower powered (5 and 7 watt) units with great success. Our area has only 1 daytime AM station that has satellite fed pablum and 2 FMs that do not report in depth on severe Midwestern weather conditions, nor traffic accidents on the interstate (I-44). I give weather updates, traffic conditions, alternate routes, even lost and found pets. My surrounding community has been receptive to my endeavors. I also broadcast music my listeners like to hear and even get requests in my mailbox! Kudos for a video that goes in depth more than so many others. You have gained a fan. KNML-FM 87.9 "The aNiMaL". @FarepointFarms: I think this unit is in the 6 watt mode. I have stored waypounts, and signal range grading, with my 7 watter. Range is slightly less at all points. No difference and using the same antenna, cut for my frequency and the cable as well. Unit shows full forward [FWD] power and no reflected [REF] at all. Only the first bar past 103.1 MHz. Impressive for its wide band compatibility. Sound quality comparable, but nice to have mono override (blocks the 19 kHz pilot tone. Doesn't add range, but helps on sound quality at near fringe areas. The unit I had let you select power levels (same case and probably OEM'd ( Signtek 7; 1.5/7 watts) and prompts you as you insert the power supply. Tried with this one and no joy. Haven't tried USB and BlueTooth input, but also wondering if the LINE input controls sound level there for them, as well. Compressor section starts kicking in at 3 o'clock position. Avoid going over that and match input level starting at the 2 o'clock position. Then experiment. You may never get as loud and fatiguing as the Big Boys. Not unless you have processing. I prefer to run my signal through a set of 12AX7s, myself at +2dB unity gain, just a tad to make up for low frequency cut off and too round out stand up bass strings. Magnetic mount has some structural strength to it. Suggest a frequency cut rubber ducky. The supplied antenna may be great for stable, and non-movable operation.

If I won I'd give it to my church. Yeah, lame right? Well the thing is I was excommunicated from my former church 23 years ago for breaking one of their rules (not a biblical one) I hadn't come to know yet and after roaming around outside for so long I finally found a place that actually is filled with Spirit, accepts you as you are, and that will bring you out of the proverbial cold. My area is talking about creating a city wide shutdown/mask/forced social distancing with monetary forfeitures per occurrence type of mandate if the governor's orders get vetoed. That means no more church body, no more warmth, no more acceptance and a disconnect with my friends. Edit: Wisconsin sucks to have outdoor church... in January. Especially for my more well-aged friends.
