2. Download Software from BMW using your computer to USB stick.
3. Install Software to your idrive system.

Hello, Thanks for the video, The website seems to have completly changed. There is no option to enter VIN and check for sofware update anymore just a bunch compatibility nonsense they wrote there. No option for vin, no link for download. been on their website for hours through your link and other youtube tutorials doesnt seen like there is any info out there. Have they stopped this? Have a 2017 G30 on Idrive 6 which am sure doesnt have remote update. Any help will be appreciated

This software update helps most of data such as map etc but not entire sure of SOS. There are no harm in updating software. My suggestion is to contact your local BMW if you haven't already since your is still under warranty.

Hi George, this could be two reasons why it’s grey. a) usb not formatted correctly b) your vehicle already has most up to date software or no update available due to vehicle age.

If your vehicle supports voice command then it should work. For example, my vehicle does not support this so updating software will not help.

You will need CarPlay on your idrive if need Spotify. CarPlay can be purchased via BMW Connect app or their website.

To update GPS you need to purchase via BMW connected drive or third party providers. If you have idrive 7 or newer, you can update it remotely if purchase idrive package or via usb stick for older vehicles.

If you did not have sat Nav, this method will not give you sat Nav. Updating your idrive helps with connectivity, removes glitches and for those who have satnav, they will get Morden version.

Well done for updating successfully. Idrive will only animate when it’s boot up but not every time your start your engine. If you want to animate different logo such as m performance, you will need to code it and I have a dedicated video for that in this channel using Carly app and dongle.

Hi, I don’t think 2013 is supported but no harm trying. This update helped Bluetooth connectivity, the map shows 3D building on iconic buildings such as London eye & London Bridge etc.

If your vehicle does not recognise the usb, there could be few options to diagnose. First check if the usb format is correct Second - did you unzip the file download from bmw? Third, your vehicle does not need any update yet.

Hi Titomo, my BMW is hybrid and when I press ignition once it does not kill the power complete and it remains as standby. The aim here is turn off engine completely so ECU is rebooted.

To install satnav if it did not come with it from manufacturer, you will need to purchase as ad on from BMW website if your idrive is compatible. I would thought all BMW from 2011 should have satnav from baseline.

my 2011 bmw 116i says theres no update and it does not support bluetooth and other app functions and no navigation. Is there a way to bypass to later update?

If there are no software available, this could mean that they have discontinued updating. You can try using newer vehicle VIN but not sure if it will work.

Where do you download the software from? Never mind I found it. It says that my vehicle is up to date and there is nothing to download. I have a 2018 x5 f15 and the sat radio/ navigation and carplay all quit working after I coded out the passenger seatbelt. I restored the backup and nothing. I used Carly.

You may have accidentally deleted the retrofit coding you had by restoring original. You can restore from Carly again if it saved a date on the ECU back to what it was. Alternatively you can get CarPlay from connect drive app if you have previously purchased this service.
