Is there even an estimated date to start production?

As I suggest on a KZbin video with address ending /watch?v=warVVm5PUZo, you're already building a charging system into your vehicle so why not just put in an expansion port so we can park next to an array at our homes and plug in to accelerate the solar charging? It just seems like a logical thing to do if you want to add value and give people another great reason to buy your product. If it's as easy as plugging in a DC connector to a socket and having your car's solar array circuit run through my solar panel array on their way to the charge controller, the cost on your part is a different charge controller, a SPDT switch, and a DC receptacle and possibly wire upgrade to handle the increased voltage. I'm going to put this idea into every Aptera video I can find until you put it into your vehicle. I want every person who sees these videos to watch for your response to such a common sense idea so we can all know what your team does when an obvious win is offered on a silver platter.

I can’t wait to buy one. Because I’m moving to Molokai Hawaii. And gasoline is six dollars a gallon there. And basically I just drive the most when I did drive. 20 to 30 miles a day. So basically I’ll have free power 365 days a year and drive for nothing but the price of the car maintenance

On a new AOC video Chris implied that there were some changes made to the Beta before retecting in Itialy.

I'm hoping that there are no plans to "discard" Beta. It will probably be put up for display at Aptera HQ along with Gamma and the Alphas and we customers won't see it again. But it will be retained for its historical value. Back in March, when Aptera announced that Beta would be going to Italy for testing, I was a bit confused. Like you, I had assumed Beta had been thoroughly tested, and CPC was designing the PI suspension. It appeared from Steve's words that CPC was finalizing the details of the suspension, in terms of bearings and rod length, and wanted to do real world testing. I didn't think Beta would be useful because It doesn't have the PI suspension. With this update it's a bit clearer, and I probably misunderstood. Chris mentions "frequency slip" and harsh deceleration. Frequency slip appears to refer to the motors, and how vibration of the suspension can cause loss of power going into the motors. Or coming out of the motors, for regenerative braking. Notice how the initial testing of Beta focused on the eventual crash testing, testing the characteristics of the body against the simulation. The suspension testing was a separate part of the test, mostly under rapid acceleration, or vibration or curb collision. This is just speculation, but I think CPC pointed out some missed details in the testing, mainly the reaction of the suspension to rapid deceleration. None of the tests in Italy were about the body, they were just testing the suspension of Beta. Chris does not say that the suspension in Italy is ready, but he doesn't say it isn't ready either. All he says is they are waiting for it to arrive in CA so they can put it in PI1. It may still need to be tested in PI2, but it can be delivered on its final form for inclusion in PI1. I interpret this as meaning that either PI2 has been built in Italy and they are satisfied with the final design, or they foresee no problems with the suspension during validation in Italy.

Richardryley I love the way you think , I was hoping the PI 2 was ready . Hopefully it is done but we really don’t know until the June webinar . All that sounds likely , here’s hoping for the best . 😎
@richardryley36608 ай бұрын
It's possible that PI2 has not been made yet, but I'm hoping that's not the case. Even if CPC hasn't done their track testing yet, it will be a lot easier to do validation if there is more than one model to test concurrently. Especially if one can be kept overseas. There's also the statement that PI2 was intended to be the first one completed, when I assumed that would be PI3. Hopefully there will be a lot more details about this on June 6.

@@freepower1082 Starting at 1:54 of you video Chris says, "We don't have the first chassis on sight yet but we are making amazing progress in San Diego." Even if this video was recorded 3 weeks ago its doubtful PI2 is ready. My hope for the PI2 is no later then the end of July. *On a side note why San Diego and not Carlsbad?* Next, about the recent testing on the Beta. At 3:58 in the video Chris says, "Then when you make a change in the future you know that the change is going to work in a predictable manner." So my guess is that they made some changes. They could be relatively big or relatively small. But because of the testing they have done before its easy for them to predict what's going to happen. So the most recent testing is probably the dotting of I's and crossing the T's to the recent changes they made. Another way to say it is. The changes they recently made are the future changes Chris was referring to.

The Beta has nearly nothing to do with the production intent vehicle. So just a waste of time and money. They do not even have a bare Pi chassis for testing. But will start production soon. Sure.

@@vic321344 production is probably 9 months to a year out is that soon? Not possible given the recent deal with US capital? Why are you so negative negative negative? You're not even giving constructive criticism just criticism based on ignorance. Clearly you don't understand why they are using the beta vehicle. Beta is a test vehicle. They are using it to test the suspension. Making small adjustments so the PI vehicles will be as close to production quality as possible. The fact that this information and understanding goes right over your head is mind blowing. If you're just going to troll and be wrong about everything you say maybe you shouldn't even bother.

Aptera just barely qualifies as a three wheel auto-cycle and not a motorcycle. They seem to be careful to refer to it as a vehicle and NOT a car. Suspension testing. Omnitraks, which used to be part of Qualcomm in San Diego, wanted to test their truck mounted electronic equipment for performance on bad (potholed) roads. They put a bunch of accelerometers on a truck and drove them down the worst roads they could find recording the accelerations. They then put linear hydraulic actuators under each wheel and drove them until the test accelerometers matched those of the actual road. They could test 10 miles of bad road in a laboratory with photography and oscilloscopes. They had mappings for many bad roads. This doesn't test lateral accelerations around curves. The photograph of Torrey Pines State Beach on the Aptera website is one of the most scenic views in San Diego.
@billsmith59608 ай бұрын
Today, all you need is something from motorsports. For example, AIM has pretty much everything they would need. So, suspension testing is not a big deal. It is if you test it with something that is not like what the production model is. In this case, that's what they are doing.
@3DThrills8 ай бұрын
With radical vehicles such as the Aptera, they of course will lose a lot of money selling them until they have achieved scale. They should charge 10x for the first vehicles that they dribble out. Early adopters are a special breed. Some of them have deep pockets and will pay for the honor of being in the vanguard. This will enable a company to get their product in the hands of more people, without bankrupting themselves before they can get out of the red.
