Your each and every Lectures are awesome . But just a suggestion that in competitive exams we need to solve it much faster , as in problem 3 it is given that upstream is thrice downstream. So Downstream= 3(Upstream) .. Replacing the formula given by you (u+v)=3(u-v) implies u+v = 3u-3v . SO we have equation 2v=u (where v is rate of stream and u=18kmph as Given in Question) . v=18/2 that is 9 kmph . :) . I hope You dont mind. It was a just a suggetion.

If you first calculate the speed of the current for 6 hrs.,which is just (32-14)=18,then find it for an hr.,which is (18/6)=3kmph & finally (3/2)=1.5kmph.I think this is faster approach,not sure for others..

You can solve this by considering he row the same distance. So, the eq. would be (18+V)T1 = (18-V)T2. While T2 = 3T1. T1 is downstram time and T2 the other

hi , what is the speed of the stream ? 1. the ratio of the speed upstream to the speed downstream of a boat is 2:3 2. The distance travelled upstream in 2 hr by the boat is more than the distance travelled by it downstream in 1 hr by 4 km

+IJAJ MUJAWAR is it 3.75 km/h ???
@bodolocal5914
@bodolocal5914 9 жыл бұрын
+IJAJ MUJAWAR a= x-y/2, since x-y = 9 a= 9/2 now b= y-x/2 but we dont know the value of y-x so lets calculate y-x first. we know distance/time = speed, Since speed is given 12 km/hr, and time = 2 hour y-x/2 = 12 hence y-x = 24, now, b= y-x/2 = 24/2 Speed of current = 1/2 ( a- b) = 1/2( 9/2 - 24/2) after calculating we will get 3.75

let speed of stream be 'v kmph' 30/(15+v) + 30/(15-v) =9/2 hr 900/(15*15)-(v*v) =9/2 v*v=225-200 v=square root (25) v=5 kmph !
