I am from Maharashtra. But I was born in Karnataka. Raised in Bengal & then after marriage came back to Maharashtra. I do understand Indrani as I till the age of 6 was not even aware that my mother tongue was Marathi because when I started speaking it was in Bengali. I consider myself Khati Bangali.

I think they calls it wrong Kolkata is not just the City of Joy, it's a City with a Soul. When you're kid the city is also a kid with you, when you're growing up the city grows up with you, when you're in love kolkata is in love with you and when you're having a hard time in life you can feel the city is also crying with you too. Basically what I'm trying to say is it's not just a city you live in, it's a living breathing part of your life. ❤

Indrani's emotion speaks the emotion of all the Bengali people about this particular song....that too without uttering a single word... North Kolkata, small lanes, old buildings (most of them are built more than 100 years ago), old snacks and sweet shops, old temples, spiral staircase, connected roof tops, etc. are just.....

I can completely imagine those emotions. 12 years ago, I left family at age 20 like many MANY other indian students. It took me years to be comfortable with where I was. And, just about 3 weeks ago I made a permanent move back to India. The dichotomy is so strange that now I miss my home back in the US. It is amazing that I felt very comfortable being at my real home but I don't know when US became my second real home, which resulted in me not being able to help but wonder if one can have more than one real homes and that attachment with more than one location? Sending big big hugs and loads of warmth to Indrani and all of you from India. Just know for a fact that you always travel around with a small part of your home in your heart and a large part of culture in your being. Your home is with you and your home is made by you. Do not be too sad that you have lost the touch because you are the one who defines that touch. Thank you for bringing such amazing reaction! Love you Rick for respecting your partner the way you do! You both are so special :)

Walking on the muddy roads, village path, smell of the soil after first drop of rain, kash phool ( kind of white flower grown during Autumn season) those are just heavenly feelings for me. You can enjoy your so called luxurious life in cities but if you visit such village and stay for few years you will never want to leave the village life. With small small things people spend their life happily. I really miss my village. When ever I get time I go to my village and spend time.
