If you're using the smaller bags, just keep it in a warm place and hang it up when you;re ready to use it. I train outside, even in winter, in London. Carrying the 9" or 12" bag and hanging it is not difficult. In fact, it's quite nice to vary the height of the bag, especially the smaller bags and I tend to do this by a few inches each time

In my gym we have four of these, antifreeze and water have nothing to do with it. (my gym is in the netherlands not much different from the UK when it come to weather) The rubber contracts when cold and stiffens up and has more give when warmer, like in the summer. What really helps is to hang them near a heat source or cover them with a microwave blanket before using them (about 30 minutes) Or earlier i would put a bucket with boiling water under it before opening up the gym. the steam softens the bag but its really labour intensive and the waterbucker needs to be near like on stool or ladder.

You could add antifreeze. Got mine set up outside & set it up in the summer & didn't think far enough ahead but to be fair I train for bare knuckle so I work alot on hand condition. Having said that punching the lumps of ice that form inside is a big no no but I do do it but with decent gloves. I don't wear wraps but do wear good gloves as the aquabag can get a bit slappy on the skin but apart from that it's the best bag I've ever used just wished I'd put antifreeze in at the time of filling 👍

Same problem in my barn. I added anti freeze, but as mentioned the problem is not that the water freezes (it doesn't). The bag just gets very hard at lower temperatures. So in winter I use my normal heavy bag most of the times (unfortunately the winters in the Netherlands are not what they used to be). Next winter I will try some trace heating or something like that.

I live in Scotland and myn was ok in the winter in my exterior garage with no heating. Guess it depends on the environment,. Could be the insulation or movement of air that prevents it in myn.. The other big con nobody talks about though is condensation. I have to have a humidifier on all the time or I walk into a small puddle. Overall I like it, its helped me whilst ive had a shoulder problem as I have a 60kg bag too and it aggravates it more.
@Boxercise3 жыл бұрын
Yes you’re right about the condensation ! I forgot to mention that - good call !
@northeastcorals Жыл бұрын
@@Boxercise What do you mean by condensation, does the bag leak water when used? Just if it doesn't leak water, it shouldn't cause condensation so I'm a bit confused 👍
@Boxercise Жыл бұрын
@@northeastcorals so the bag being filled with water doesn’t warm up as fast as the surrounding air. If the air is warmer it can hold more water vapour so this touches the bag and cools. The condensation results from the water in the air. It’s the same thing as when you get condensation on a single pane window.
@northeastcorals Жыл бұрын
@@Boxercise Ah gotcha & thanks for the reply I really appreciate it. In my home gym I mainly suffer from condensation hitting skylight/roof windows that just so happen to be above some expensive CV machines with electronic consoles so somewhere else for the dew point to take place would be a good thing 😅, although once I get my new in-wall heat recovery unit up & running I'm hoping to reduce the moisture levels in the room all together.

There's a couple of things that might be happening but i must stress i'm only guessing! 1. The screw that seals the bag is not making a watertight seal , if this is the case take it out smear vaseline on it and re tighten. 2. The bag isn't 'full' if that's the case add more water and that should fix it.

WADR, I couldn't disagree more. I've got an Everlast Hydrostrike, and Aquabags in 12 and 15 inch in an unheated garage in London. As long as you use wraps and don't hit them with bare hands no problems in two years. Not even an issue wearing Rival RB5'S and they have very little protection. I think the bags can soften up a bit when you use them for a while as well.

That’s ok to disagree - thanks for the comment . I did think this post would provoke some discussion and I’m glad it did . I do find my aqua bags get ‘hard’ at low temp though .
