This is so awesome, it is just like the description from the book, Last stand at Papago Wells, by Loius L'amour. I quote, "It was the only water for miles in a vast, sun-blasted desert where water meant survival. So Logan Cates naturally headed for Papago Wells. But he wasn’t the only one. Fleeing the fierce Churupati and his Apache warriors, other travelers had come there too. And when the Apaches found them, they began a siege as relentless and unforgiving as the barren land…and just as inescapable." I grew up reading his books and that of Zane Grey and you are walking around in their country making what they wrote come alive. Thanks so much for sharing.

My old stomping grounds. I was raised in Casa Grande, not too far from there. Watch for scorpions out there in addition to the snakes. Lots of Sidewinders in that area. They are small compared to the diamondback rattlers you hear so much about. No surprise that the mine was filled with water. They don't get much rain in that area but most of the rain water soaks into the ground very quickly and is caught in underground tanks, a large rock bowl. You can go 50 miles to the east from there and the water is down 1400 feet below the surface. A family friend runs cattle down there south of Gila Bend and has to pump water from 1400 feet underground. He often finds clear and blind fish in the water he pumps up. Great vid AC. Keep up the good work. Love your channel.
@blacksheep95056 жыл бұрын
cuban9splat damn that is crazy if true I wonder if the groundwater systems have for food for them down there prolly bacteria feeding smaller organisms for them to feed upon. Or a nearby a cave opening that flushes food down with rain. It definitely makes you think.

You should check out El Pinacate which is due south of there. It is just off of Mexican highway number 2. It is a volcano caught in eruption. It looks like a huge chocolate sundae. My father used to work the mines in that area until the government closed it. He said it was really mineralized. When you see the prickly pear with a purple tinge to it, that indicates the area is rich in copper. For what it is worth, he said the miners never kept their finds in the cabin or tent, but somewhere near by where they could watch it. But in 1917 the Spanish flu went through the area and killed off a lot of miners. Their pokes are still hidden. Get swinging that metal detector. Robert Gill Phoenix, AZ

Dear Beau, thank you so much for this video. I have never seen country anything like this really. The closest was Arizona, when I visited the Grand Canyon. It was fantastic to go for a walk with you and see what it he desert is actually like. To see copper in the rocks and the remains of former ranches and peoples lives. I did wonder about the wildlife, no crickets or cicadas- very quiet. The cacti are huge, in your last video I was astonished that people shot them - perhaps that was long ago? You are brave to not have your trousers tucked into your socks with scorpions and rattlesnakes about - I'm not sure I would get out of the vehicle. The crows eating windscreen wiper rubber is funny - in the South Island of NZ we have a large green native parrot that does that too, and all rubber trims to cars & trucks, they are experts at vandalising vehicles, but are also protected as endangered - you can't even bother them. Maybe your crows have been on holiday... take care, don't get arrested, don't partake of too many adult beverages and fall into a cactus in the dark whilst watering it, be careful of those caves they look terribly small and keep making your great videos 🎆🎆🎆😁

In your earlier series in Arizona and the cliff dwellings; You had asked about the wood beams (vigas) looking like they were burnt. I do know that at some of the pioneer cabins, they would scorch the logs for bug control. Do you think the Indians did that? My other theory is that they could have harvested logs after a fire moved through. It didn't look like the cliff houses were burnt so, I don't think fire had reached up to where they lived. I saw a photo of Bandelier and the logs looked the same. On this trip; Are you near the cliff houses again? Is brother Pete not allowed on camera?
