Beau, has your light never attracted/aggravated rattlers? Mom was a rock hound. At Hot Springs, SD, at my uncle's place, Mom and I were using the black light to hunt fluorescing minerals, and either 5 or 6 rattlers suddenly came from several directions right to us! I boosted Mom onto a large boulder, scrambled up behind her, and together we yelled for help. We turned off that light, of course. Uncle Jim and Dad came with ordinary flashlights and big sticks, making lots of thrashing noise, and drove off the snakes. We did not hunt that way again. My research did not reveal any evidence that the light attracted them, but otherwise why were they so aggressive?

Thanks for the laughs. This is the first time I have seen someone have so much fun with a uv light and scorpions.

Was out on a snake hunting trip and came across a big fat scorpion. Under natural light it was a dark reddish brown, under UV it was like the ones in the video. I was going to keep it for a few days, photograph it, then turn it loose near where I caught. The day of its freedom, I checked on it and was going to give it a nice fat cricket before turning it loose. What I found was surprising, during the night she gave birth to a huge herd of babies. So as to not make her reject them, I kept her for a few weeks, feeding them crickets. When the babies started to fall off and not return, I decided it was getting time to turn her loose. There were close to 40 babies and they were eating pinhead size crickets. I turned them loose when their exoskeleton started to change color to the reddish-brown like their mom's was. It was sort of fun raising them. Unlike the ones in your video, these had short claws, not the long thin ones. I read that the claw size and shape was an indication of the toxicity of their venom. The ones you were showing here would be of a variety that are very venomous. I have a set of long forceps that I use to catch them with, then take them to the University where they are doing venom research. I am really enjoying you Arizona adventures. Have A Beautiful and Wondrous Day, Be Safe In Your Travels and Adventures.

There are scorpions in Italy🇮🇹. I was staying at my family's farmhouse in Bastia, Italy. I went outside on the farm at night with a ultraviolet light and saw scorpions crawling all over the farm and crawling, huding in the cracks of the stone walls. I caught 3 of them in a glass jar. They were about 1.5 inches long and brown.

I was stung on the stomach as I leaned up against the cedar railing on my back porch. Now that really stung. After that I would go out on the porch at night with my regular flashlight and at find them on my stucco walls and then I would spray them with raid. Of course the majority of my house was rock and I had to take the bed skirt off if my beds to keep them from crawling into bed at night.

Depends on the size some of the most dangerous scorpions are tiny the large ones feel like a bad bee sting but the small ones will leave you crying in agony for hours I was stung in Texas at 4 years old while picking wild grapes standing on a pile of old bricks never seen it coming but felt it for sure over the next 4 hours my foot swelled to the point that the bottom near my heal split open like a dropped watermelon the worse pain I have ever been through I respect them and keep my distance they are one of God's beautiful creatures and they can and will defend themselves take my advice watch where you step and shake your boots out before slipping them on

usually, but not always, an inverse relationship with claw size and venom potency exists. smaller the claw the more potent the venom.
@natashamariani58236 жыл бұрын
Rob could be! The bark scorpion is very dangerous. Tiny little monsters. I am unfortunate enough to be a victim of a bark scorpion sting. I have permanent nerve damage and a allergy to hornets now.

There are several minerals that emit light, orglow under black lights (ultraviolet (UV) light). Non-visible (to the human eye) black light reacts with the chemicals in minerals and causes the rock to fluorescence. If theglow remains after you remove the light source, you have a phosphorescence mineral.
