The mystery of the door in the engine room explained! (I think). A few people have asked about the door at the far (front) end of the engine room - where does it go? And I must admit this has been puzzling me, but I think I've worked it out. If you look in the master cabin shower, there appears to be an odd, and pointless, partition. That shower is in the centre at the very aft section of the lower deck accommodation. I'm pretty sure that the partition is actually an opening that opens to reveal the inside of that mystery engine room door (they'd line up perfectly). So I think it's an escape route out of the lower deck through the engine room. The door in the transom next to the crew space/engine room access from outside I think is just a bit of deck storage.

Lovely...sort of a budget superyacht. That's lots of boat for 2 million. Great maple woodwork especially the frame and panel cabinet doors in the galley. Huge upper deck with a Jacuzzi. Perfect show off boat for a lottery winner or the self-made multi-millionaire! Aquaholic's video tours are so much better than the big production boat commercials from the major yacht brokers. This is an actual tour where you feel like you are in the boat walking around taking it all in. The others present the boat in a way to give you an overall impression. Love the engine room tours Nick! Keep up the great work!

Thanks for all these informative videos. On the Cheoy Lee I saw that a ladder on the back and also one in the backboard gangway. You didn't spend time on those, but over the years I have been in so many ports and petrol stations where I was wondering how the hell do I get here on or off my boat, so always interested to see what solutions others have implemented. Yards usually don't spend any more time on all these practical aspects and stop at the usual passerelle (as an option). Or more raily putting in a side door or an opening in the front railing surely is only the start of a solution as getting from there to the wall is the more difficult part of the exercise.

I think that I would have guessed this was a Chinese boat anyway. I've seen it in a lot of their goods, where they have a mix of very good design and then some things that were obviously done to a budget. Some very jarring notes in a luxury product (chairs around the dining table didn't look good enough for IKEA) yet the woodwork, something for which the Chinese are noted, was excellent. It was a good layout, no doubt and excellent value for money even at 14 years old. Thanks so much for reviewing some of these 'older' boats - it gives us a really good comparison of how tastes, engineering and design have changed. From all your reviews though, Samurai is still my all time favourite. Not because of the size, but just because of its elegance and fit out. On a totally side note, I've been watching the video of the first sea trials of Royal Huisman's Sea Eagle II. Time for you to start angling for a visit :-) Hope the lockdown is going well for you Nick. Hang in there, you're not losing any fans.

This interior was on the edge of old back in 2006. Unfortunately for the Asian market, a lot of the vessel interior designers were required to copy other European yacht builders. Instead of allowing the local talented designers to think organically, traditionally and occasionally out of the box. The same intellectual theft applies to the engine plant, therefore l would never recommend buying any boat built in China before 2013.

You do not know how excited I get every time I open YT and see a new Aquaholic video. Now I will have to watch this before heading outside to start my burn pile. General question, is the furniture (dining table, etc) fastened down to minimize any movement in rough seas? What about vases, lamps, etc. Or do all the gyros really minimize any type of movement while underway and in port? I must admit as am quite oblivious to how these things work.
@AQUAHOLIC4 жыл бұрын
Heavy objects like tables are often secured. Vases, lamps etc, it depends. Sometimes they're removed before getting underway if it's likely to be rough, other times they're stuck down.

Hi Nick, nice video, so much better than the ones people do with music and no explanation. You pointed out on the side that it had overhangs like a superyacht, I was just wondering is this boat not a superyacht ? is there a certain size before one can be called a superyacht? is this one just a really big boat? probably a silly question but genuine.
@AQUAHOLIC4 жыл бұрын
Not a silly question at all. Industry standard for a superyacht is at 24 metres Load Line Length. In practice that's boats of at least 85ft but normally 95ft+ So this boat doesn't quite make it as a superyacht (although it does feel like one).

Interesting. It is a bit aged style but very pleasant and inviting nonetheless and good layout. I wonder though with the 2006 price index in china if 2mill isn't a bit high given the age.
