I really appreciate all the Mamamoo content we're getting from the channel lately. One thing i may add about Mamamoo is that they're really interesting . You cannot get bored with them , whether it's their discography or their stage performances. They will always manage to surprise you. Also, can you please react to their immortal songs medely. Besides the song itself my favorite thing about Destiny is the performance concept. You didn't really talk about it and as usual with MMM I think it's probably impossible to fully grasp the concept on first view since their visuals and vocals take first place in anyone's attention. But nobody ever seems to discuss it so fwiw here's my take on the concept. First off, Destiny is the first song where MMM expresses their belief that they were destined to be best friends regardless of whether they were in a group together or even singers. That's the core idea that provides the genesis for Destiny. Imo they're mixing an archetypal good vs evil Western with a classic Korean story of fated souls sharing the destiny of meeting in multiple lifetimes. So it's like a kdrama take on The Shootout at the Queendom Corral lol. We get the technicolor desert sunset, the cowgirl costumes and the spaghetti Western style of the song's intro to set the scene and Hwasa lets us know right away that this is a story song (Gonna tell you something 'bout my story). But there are a couple of early clues that there's something else going on - Hwasa conjures up the wraith-like dancers to take their places in the drama and Solar drifts in from the mists of time on the shoulders of more dancers. I think these black-clad dancers represent many things - the memories of past struggles, the inner demons they tried to overcome, and all the forces of fate that kept them apart through various prior lives. You noticed how intimately attached the members were to the dancers - they sit, lie, lean on and put their feet on the dancers as though they're the shadows of themselves. The dancers are a more complex version of the bad guys in a Western movie. The verses flesh out the story of their struggles and failures to be together in the past and Moonbyul provides my favorite parts as she plays the equivalent of sheriff John Wayne telling the bad guy "You'd better be out of town by sundown if you know what's good for you, pilgrim." lol Hwasa expresses their determination to succeed no matter how long and how many lifetimes it takes with the line "I can wait forever!" as the song and story build to the climactic shootout that ends with a bang as Solar dispatches the dancers forever and they finally achieve their destiny to be united as Mamamoo. Wheein provides the epilogue as the members meld into a group pose symbolizing their unity that resembles a classic renaissance sculpture of a biblical or mythological scene.
