Him as Aquaman was a sign of the failures of the DCEU from the start. He was never a good fit for the character and always the perfect fit for Lobo. When you make that much of a mistake, just draw in horny moms as Hemsworth did for Thor, then your whole production starts on the wrong foot. And both movies had that feel from the start.

Saw this today, and somehow was let down despite having low expectations. There are a few elements which stand out, mainly Patrick Wilson and his banter with Jason Momoa. Do you know of any superhero movies that have smaller stakes? I remember when watching videos of how people would rewrite Suicide Squad (2016), they often said they should have made the Joker the antagonist instead of Enchantress. Since he doesn't have supernatural powers, he would make more sense as a threat the Task Force X. Also, we could have focused on the relationships between the members of the Squad.

A couple of these movies have kinda big stakes, but I don't think any of them are world ending. The reason why it's a "rule" in the first place, especially in literature, is that editors or teachers didn't want you to overdo it with the "telling" part. Aquaman 2 and The Flash combined make me want to see Batgirl even more badly. If Zaslav thought these were good enough for theater,s maybe we shouldn’t trust his judgment. Maybe Batgirl was lowkey amazing and he just didn’t get it. I don’t know, but I really want to.

I am of the mind that if this and the flash was good enough for zaslav and wb then how much worse was batgirl.

Im assuming that it was probably the worst movie ever attempted to be filmed and the Flash and Aquaman werent released because they thought they were good but hoping they would make money purely on Aquaman accidentally making 1bil and Michael Keaton returning as batman. It had nothing to do with the studio believing these were good.

It was easier to tell the directors of batgirl to screw off, than James Wan

Hi Dan! I hope you have a Merry Christmas! I love the first Aquaman movie! It's a lot of fun to watch! I'm not watching this movie because of the actress & the rumors of unprofessionalism. There are plenty of actresses they could have been used instead. I don't think I would like something mentioned in the movie & then forgotten about though, that would've bugged me big time, even though those are spoilers. If anyone is reading this who has not seen the new Godzilla movie, I highly recommend it, & try to bring a friend with you if you can. :)

Just got back from seeing this with my son.I thought it was excellent. Everything I want in a popcorn flick. Great special effects, full of action and likeable characters. Bah humbug to all the neysayers.

This movie and the Marvel was supposed to be released last year but Bad early reception and too much reshooting forced the two movies to be released in late 2023, and all of that didn't pay off as the two are now battling who is the most flop in the Super Hero genre this 2023.

Wow!!! The reviews on this movie are wildly interesting! Sounds like it was a party full of employees that all got fired at the same time from the same company that is soon to go out of business. The end credit scene should have been a long line at the unemployment office! 🤣🤣🤣

Honestly I’ll probably go since I’m still a fan of superhero films and just films in general. Even if the film isn’t good, I still think it’s a worthwhile experience to be able to point out the flaws and appreciate flawless films.

Credit really needs to go to the writer when a movie is great. They deserve the blame, also, if it’s terrible. Basically, we need much more talented writers in Hollywood.

I think making movies that are smaller in scale and revolve over 2-3 characters is less done in superhero movies because marketing plays a huge role. A movie with a trailer that contains visually large set pieces is more easy to market and get people curious enough to buy a ticket/pay on stream.

Not as good as the first film (which is one of my favourite DC films) but it's in a better half of DC franchise. Only big disappointment was, the movie was too short and I wanted to see final epic fight between Aquaman vs Necros
