I grew up in Iowa, so I pretty much know this scene. My work as a professional classical musician has taken me far away. I miss my family But not the Middle West. This was an interesting movie for me to see. I grew up in the Lutheran Church but now I pretty much consider myself a humanist. This was an interesting story. thanks to the film makers. I had wild older twin brothers who who who who who partied a lot. So I could relate to both sides of this story I was the brother who was more behaved.

Much of this was filmed in my hometown and ol stomping grounds in Marinette and Peshtigo, WI and Menominee, MI. The lead actor stayed in my childhood neighborhood, two doors down from my brother who rebuilt that particular cottage

Being spiritual and religious are not the same. Man made religions are just self-help groups, based on my own experiences. I definitely believe we are goverend by some power grater than ourselves. I have also had several supernatural experiences.

I am spiritual, too. Organized religion didn't do it for me, being brought up Catholic. One day, many years ago, I asked myself a question; 'What is the purpose of hell?' I could not come up with an answer. "if we go to hell, we stay there to suffer. We can't say, I'm sorry because it doesn't return us to heaven." The question is, 'What is the purpose of hell?" Organized religion doesn't have an answer. I do believe there is a greater power than ourselves.

Nice movie. Too bad the producers didnt use a real Catholic church. The church that was used is obviously Episcopalian. Its ok, just didnt have the same feeling. In reality, the bishop would have assigned a priest to say mass on sundays.

Well for starters the flaw in a god belief is that it is compatible with anyone having free will! The idea you were created by a magic all knowing god thing, is by definition going to know your every thought and action you would have during your entire life back when god was deciding to create you... is what all knowing means! And if you were created with god knowing that, the god would also know your ultimate destiny of salvation or damnation when god was creating you, so unless you can do something god did not know you were going to do then there is nothing you can chose to do that could alter your destiny or fate set in stone from your creation. Meaning if god exists you have about the same free will as a clockwork toy to change its actions... at best god could only ever give you a delusion of free will not truely free will. As for the belief in the Jews single god the one that supposedly made everything in six days, things like made light and had yo make dark on day one, but then made the light sources on day four. But latter according to the Jews tried and failed several times to kill Moses... Sorry but it is stupidity on a whole higher level!

People who don't believe in God, do not believe, because God doesn't want them too. Jesus made that abundantly clear in Matthew 11: 27-All things have been delivered to Me by My Father, and no one knows the Son except the Father, nor does anyone know the Father except the Son, and the one to whom the Son wills to reveal Him. Again, in Luke 10: 22. To know God, is to fear Him. We are all here at the mercy of God. But by the grace of God, go we all.
