Great video, I’ve been really nervous about setting my co2 up, another one for thinking I’d blow the house up or something! This video has really clearly explained the whole process and taken away some of those worries so I’ll be getting on with this week! Is there anything us worryworts should be looking out for if things happen to start going wrong?!

Hey and thank you so much. Nothing better than helping someone out with my videos. The main thing is to male sure the nut is nice and tight and listen for any small leaks or rub some water on and around the nut and thread area to check for bubbling. If there us nip it a little tighter and you should be good to go. Don't worry about drops in pressure the first couple of days, gradually creep it up until your drop checker is in the green during the light period. Avoid the cheap ebay regulators. Best of luck🙂

Why didn't you change the faucet on the fire extinguisher? It's more effective than the rubber band!

I normally use bottles made for purpose. I ran out and a friend borrowed me the extinguisher for the video.

It's a luxury, but I like to have two CO2 tanks. This way in case one tank runs out, I can just swap it with the full tank and go get the other one filled whenever I have time. I'm really bad at keeping track of the amount of CO2 in the tank and can't tell you how many times I've looked over and noticed no CO2 coming out of the diffuser!

It is easy done, though. You're right it is best to have a new cylinder on hand to do a straight swap. I say that, but like you, I have a tenancy to check regularly.

I'm the same Geordie,I've always been scared of using it,hearing shocking stories of wiping out livestock completely,but watching you there it looks so simple,can I ask at what point do u look at changing bottles,when completely empty or just before.. Also what kit would you recommend for a four foot tank 240.👌👍

Same kit as in the video mate. Best to always have a full bottle as a spare so you can swap over as soon as it's run out. I always let the bottle run completely out before swapping. Get your moneys worth so none goes to waste Haha.

I loved this video and thanks a tom for advocating for a Co2 system in planted tanks. Without co2 planted tank is v much possible but once u start adding co2 u can see the difference and u will never want to stop using it ❤❤❤❤

Thanks for the video. Can I ask if the timer of solenoid valve if turn it off you need to close also the cylinder? Thanks

Thank you. No solenoid opens when power is on enabling CO2 to get through so when the timer shuts it off no CO2 gets through. No need to do anything just set yout timer and bubble rate, sorted👌

@chrischapman4012 I have and not a fan of bio. Difficult to control the amount of CO2 going into the tank and doesn't last very long compared to a pressurised CO2 system.
