Great tips! I’ve been struggling with algae growth in my tank for a while. The idea of adjusting light intensity really caught my attention. I didn’t know it could make such a difference in controlling algae. I’ll definitely try this and see if it helps my tank!

I love that as a hobby we're moving away from "Set it to 78 degrees and forget it". Since I started lowering my temps I've noticed my cichlids don't fight nearly as much, the growth rate is more manageable (longer lifespans too!), my plants are thriving, and my tanks look clearer with less algae. The only exceptions I'll make going forward will be for breeding purposes or growout purposes.

Lowering the temperature as a strategy to manage algae is an excellent point. It’s fascinating how temperature affects the metabolic rates of plants and algae differently.

Great video, for what I have done in my tank is, having a deep dirt, that is a layer of 1 inch of peatsoil and this capped with a 3 inch layer of sand, then used a plant stock of 4 plants per gallon or 6 when smaller like foreground plants.. my system runs over a Oase biomaster 850 thermo, the thank is 62 gallons and holds at the moment 8 adult discus fish and believe it or not, 67 young discus fish, 30 kardinal tetra's, snails (uncountable) and army of japonica's... temp of 82 F, a 5.8PH, 8KH and a zero on the NO2, NO3 is stable at 15ppm.. and never had an algae outbreak.. most common mistake made is over feeding, I feed the fish 3 times a week an eyeball per fish, for the rest they need to hunt on the macro and micro foodweb in the tank.. And I have only one motto, never ever be a slave of your fish tank, enjoy nature taking care for you.

Can you please suggest me a good peaceful fish for algae cleaner in my planted aquarium? Placo fish already added but no use..
@AquariumStoreDepot2 ай бұрын
How large is the tank and what type of pleco? They can get aggressive with other bottom feeders
@pobitrasamanta21132 ай бұрын
@@AquariumStoreDepot 2ft/1ft tank size, albino common placo fish, not so aggressive. If they harmful for my tank fishes then I will remove the placo fish. But please suggest me a good one.
@AquariumStoreDepot2 ай бұрын
@ if it’s a common pleco it’s way too big for that size. I would go with an octocinlus and some Nerite snails

I don't have algae problems since I control my nitrate and phosphate levels. Low nitrate and enough phosphate are essential. Then avoid too much light, just 8 to 10 hr depending on the lights you have. Also have algae eaters and fast growing plants to remove nutrients. Temperature at 77f not a problem. Many of the other measures exposed on this video are expensive and useless, at least I low tech no CO2 tanks like mines.
@AquariumStoreDepot2 ай бұрын
Good stuff. For me where I live nirates and phosphates are my biggest issues. I resolved a lot of that when I switched to RODI water. Ya I know that’s overall for a FW tank, but I prefer to dial in my TDS exactly with re-mineralization. Hard habit I got from dealing with RODI water with the reef tanks I owned. In your experience, what algae eaters have work best for you?

My shrimp eat floting plants. They dont live long in my tank.
