Great video.. I like the way you explained how to use AFR. Right now I’m dosing 2 parts ESV but would like to go AFR. I’m dosing 22ml of each component keeping Alk stable at 8.5 dkh. If I start dosing AFR do you think I need to start dosing the 5ml of AFR or there’s a conversion that I can use to get close to the 8.5 dkh with AFR? Thanks in advance

So if you are looking for a kh of 9, a calcium level of 450 and mag level of 1400 how can you pin point these levels and keep them stable if you aren’t dosing them individually?
@CandyCoralAquatics2 ай бұрын
Great question! I would say the best advice I could give is since everything is in equal parts and you use alk as a testing point, once your alk is where you want it, test your calcium and magnesium separate. Then dose them independently. That way you can get all your minar and major trace elements, easy dose alk and control your calcium and magnesium 😊 great question and I hope this helps. I think I'll make a video about this question!

Thanks! Have you found that it releases the Alk slowly instead of instantly? Like can you admit all of once and not worry about a spike?
@CandyCoralAquatics Жыл бұрын
It does not cause a spike, exactly why this is I'm not sure. I'm assuming it's because it's a ratio instead of straight alk. I'd have to do some more investigating to find out. I've never heard of spikes from others who have used it either

Did you ever have any nutrient issues while dosing all for reef? My nutrients are bottoming out when I dose all for reef.
@CandyCoralAquatics2 жыл бұрын
Not that I am aware of, that must mean your corals are growing well because they would be using the nutrients
@nautilus95992 жыл бұрын
Just saw this - probably too late to help you, but for others having this issue you should be aware that the main component of AFR is Calcium Formate. When added to your water this dissociates into Calcium and a Formate ion. Formate is then metabolized by bacteria, releasing alkalinity into the water, as well as acting as a (relatively) mild carbon source. If your Nitrates and Phosphates are already very low, you may have to find a way to offset the loss from increased bacterial growth. This is also why dosing this does not result in immediate alkalinity changes, especially when starting out - it takes time to be metabolized.

I have a 106g so on day 1 I added 20ml tested next day and it was 7.9 alk. Day 2 added 20ml day 3 tested and it is 8.4alk I’m not sure if I should skip dosing day 3 to see how much it drops or add half dose any advice?
@CandyCoralAquatics2 жыл бұрын
Try one more daily dose of 20ml, if it's still rising cut it to 15ml and retest then adjust as needed
@ianthio13902 жыл бұрын
when u dose do u need to do water changes?
@GwonkReefkeeping2 жыл бұрын
So I have been using AFR and I noticed that it has a delay in the alkalinity reading changing. It almost seems that it takes a day or two for you to see the change. Has this been your experience?
@CandyCoralAquatics2 жыл бұрын
I've honestly never tested immediately after, however if it does have a delay that would only give more reason to use it. Makes it that much safer, other doesing products raise alkalinity pretty directly and that's why they can be unsafe
@jeffforbus91562 жыл бұрын
Good morning, when you’re dose all for reef are you only testing alkalinity?

My tank is 34 gals. Is it okay if I dose 6ml of AFR all at once in the morning? Or do I have to split the dosage into small increments throughout the day?
@CandyCoralAquatics2 жыл бұрын
I don't think the water volume matters since the dose is formulated around it, all at once should be fine no matter the water volume because like I said you're dosing based on gallons. Only thing you may wanna be careful of is dumping it onto of corals, in smaller tanks as you know there is obviously less space for corals so you may be dumping whatever you're adding directly on top of corals, so add it to a high flow area
@CandyCoralAquatics2 жыл бұрын
I do understand your thought behind this question and I think I'm going to make a video on it, it's a excellent question because with other traditional two part methods you would wanna split it up, but no need for it with all for reef
@jojodoghouse2 жыл бұрын
If you acheived 8.4dkh by dosing 20ml all the way through week 2, why are you going back to dosing 15ml in week 3? Did hear wrong? Thanks!
@CandyCoralAquatics2 жыл бұрын
I might have made a error or perhaps you heard wrong, essentially you start of at whatever MLS is recommended for you tank based on instructions, then add to it per instruction every week until you hit your desired dkh.

My calcium tend to rise when using AFR. to maintian my alk
@ThaNewGenesis9 ай бұрын
Did you ever figure out how to address that issue?
@craigmoreira420710 ай бұрын
Over what time frame would you dose that just at night? Or would you just dump it all in at one shot?
@jasonyang52968 ай бұрын
It's not like kalkwasser, it will slowly raise your dkh within 24 hours while ur corals are also consuming. Then u check after the 24 hours to see what dkh you got left n if it's in a good spot 7-9
@jasonyang52968 ай бұрын
In short u can just dump it all..

Hello. I just want to start using All for Reef. Did you add 10 ml at once? Or you use dripping like 10 drops during the 24 hours? Thank you.
@CandyCoralAquatics Жыл бұрын
Dripping is not needed like traditional 2 parts because it's a steady increase of alk not an instant one like with other 2 parts. You're ok to add your daily dose all at once and monitor alk with a weekly test, just don't add it right over top of coral and try to add it to a high flow area, hopes this helps
@whitefang8329 Жыл бұрын
@@CandyCoralAquatics Thank you very much. Should I add it straight to the tank on high flow areas as you recommended or in the sump ?
@CandyCoralAquatics Жыл бұрын
@@whitefang8329 I don't have any experience with a sump, but since they share the same water, a sump should be fine.

How do you lower your alkalinity
@CandyCoralAquatics2 ай бұрын
Lower your ph, alk will lower to compromise. Or water change, or everyone's favorite, add more hard corals 🪸 😅

Do i dose the amount needed per day at once or does it have to be dosed throughout the day?

All at once per day until you find your sweet spot, then you can split that dose up. I've read some ppl split daily dose into 4. Good luck

@CandyCoralAquatics10 сағат бұрын
@LaheyCrocket you can do a water change, or just let it go down over time naturally. You can also allow your ph to become more acidic, alk will lower to raise ph. Hope this helps
@CandyCoralAquatics10 сағат бұрын
@@LaheyCrocket what is your alk at current?
@LaheyCrocket10 сағат бұрын
@@CandyCoralAquatics it does help, thanks! I did a water change yesterday. It was at 12 then 11 after a water change. Today it is at 11.1 I think my best bet is to as you say. Do water changes as it is going down on it's own naturally to get it back to where it should be.
@CandyCoralAquatics10 сағат бұрын
@LaheyCrocket 11 is fine, just make sure you have enough nutrients in the water column so your corals don't burn out. Keep nitrates and phosphate up. Nitrate 10is or so, and phosphate 0.05-0.08. Feed, feed and feed. This will allow the corals tonhave enough nutrients to keep themselves from burning up while they take up the higher lvl of alk. It'll balance out normally over the next week or so depending on how many corals you have

@@CandyCoralAquatics sorry, had fallen asleep. Phosphate is at .9 (biopellet reactor still waiting for the pellets to fully get going) nitrates are at 11. I feed phyto and ab+ as well for my jbj 24. I'm going do a 30% water change tonight to try and get it to drop down to hopefully 10. I want to get back to 8dkh as thats where my salt comes in at.
