Hi Vin. Love Loch Lomond's bottlings so no surprise Roy was able to pick up these bangers from their stock. Just finished their OB 14 year old which has a similar fizz to it. have recently uncorked the 18 YO which is a different dram altogether. Great review as always mate.

Great video, Vin. I bought both of these even though the shipping cost was painful. I'm so glad that I did. I agree these are different, but both beautiful. I found that they both benefited a lot from time in the glass to open up a bit. I agree with you that the 14 is "deeper" and probably my preference but that could flip the next time I pour them. I did an experiment and poured a 50/50 blend of the two and I encourage you to try it. I thought it was better than either of them. Imagine Michael Henry getting to play with blending casks like this. Cheers, Vin.

The bottle note that says grapefruit on the 12 to me tries to say citrus but a bitterness with it. What I get is "yuzu" which like you said is on the lemon side, only a more intense jolt and tang than regular lemon. The 14 I get a definite kind of caramel where is very smothering and thick, not light like a honey. I don't think I thought of it before, but maybe even like a mead.

Terrific comparison of these super unique special expressions!! I didn’t love the Loch Lomond 12 available in liquor stores. It was so so. I’d live to try a bourbon cask Loch Lomond!! The 14 intrigues me. Cask influence is fascinating!! I had heard so much good about the 12 and just didn’t enjoy it much. I had heard the 12 was “dirtier, smokier” which I really wanted. I got overwhelmed with sweetness with the 12. Do you think the 14 is as sweet as the 12? I’m learning I’m not a super sweet fan with scotch. Chardonnay yeast sounds interesting.🤨 Way to go Roy!! So cool he was able to do this!! So awesome that Roy shared a bottle Vin!! The whisky community is so kind and generous right?!! I love that!! Oh I would love to try the 14 with the higher ABV!!
